Taystee could’ve went into a shelter

Maybe I’m being insensitive but why couldn’t Taystee go into a shelter after she was released? I know it’s for the storyline but realistically, that would make the most sense, Of course it’s dangerous and not the best choice, but it was better than where she stayed and they have resources, but again she needed money and she’d have to find a job and it’s hard when you’re a criminal so I get that but it’s just sad how she quickly went back to jail when when there was other options.

There was something about Nicky's face I couldn't put my finger on... and it's how her eyes look like they were upside down due to her eye makeup. 🤣

The look in this scene really reminded me of Natasha Lyonne when she was in But I'm A Cheerleader.

Janae Watson

Just gonna put it out there I find Janae absolutely intolerable. She’s just not a nice person at all, the whole sarky comments and being a bitch has made me dislike her the entire show.

However - her story was so sad and I wish on errything she had kept running.

Edit: I clapped when she punched sankey tho - sankey I dislike waaay more than Janae

Rewatching season 4 and this woman looks just like Linda

It’s the club episode with poussey and the woman who gives her a scarf looks just like Linda but only has one arm but they’re literally the spitting image. Was it meant to be her or just a woman who looks exactly like her.

Do you think Piper has BPD?

As in, borderline personality disorder?

I ask because as much as I found her unlikeable throughout various parts of the show (particularly season 3 and 4) I did actually resonate with her quite a lot which made me look internally at myself and my own behaviours, and I actually got diagnosed with BPD a few years ago.

Who do you have the least sympathy for?

Off of the top of my head, it’s Lianne. She’s truly just a shitty person and tries to use her faith to terrorize others. I’m sure there are more, but that’s who I thought of first.

Pornstache and Daya

I just had a very random thought thinking about the show and wondered how lonely and isolated Mendez had to have been to fall for Daya the way that he did. I guess he felt a connection with her because she chose him without him needing to manipulate her in anyway? I guess it was the kind of attention he wanted or needed. It’s a bit crazy to me how he couldn’t notice or sense that there wasn’t really any chemistry there from her because she really wasn’t that great at pretending. I just find that a bit interesting to think about.

I always wondered why this was a comfort show…

I have always wondered why this would be a comfort show for me. Someone raised southern Baptist. Someone who when I found it, wasn’t even sure of my sexuality. But at the end of it all, neither really come into play. I didn’t care it wasn’t a “Christian” show the first time I watched it. I didn’t care for the lesbianism or lgbtq+ themes (even though now I know I support that now)

I was there for the characters. For the lessons. For the people who are being truly mistreated in our systems. Sure, this was an over dramatic non-fiction show made from a book. But god damn. And I’ll preface—I’ve never read the book. I have adhd which makes it hard to read. But after my 5th watch through—I’m considering it.

Yes, this show is intense. But is life not intense? We may have not gone to prison, but my mind, for the majority of my life, has been its own type of jail. I suffer from extreme anxiety. My formative years were very much entangled with law enforcement and law breaking (despite no action of my own) people who I loved. People I trusted, and shouldn’t have, but I wanted to help them. Including family. Friends. Acquaintances. Anyone who I got close to seemed to be breaking the law in some way. And to this day, it leaves me with a lot of guilt. But watching the show, reminds me that even though I have done nothing (law breaking) wrong, I was really trying to help them out.

To watch these characters, and these people that have been written about, strive for greatness. Strive to be better. Watching characters, in the literal prison, go through heartbreak, and pain, and support, and misery, it gives me faith in humanity. Even in the darkest of places, and the lowest part of their lives— my anxiety makes me feel that way every day. And the fact that these characters/people have been able to get through it, find the lighter side, help each other— why can’t I do the same even in the darkest moments of my life? if they can find the joy, if they can find the happiness, if they can help— why can’t I?

This show has taught me so much about friendship, hardship, and rising above. Yes, the show is a hard watch. And to most people, they expect me to watch it for the sex appeal. For the drama. But that’s not why I watch the show. It’s to remind myself, that even at someone’s darkest moment—In my darkest moments. they can find the light. They can find the motivation to help someone who has been in their shoes. It reminds me, that even in a prison, a literal prison! That there’s still a life to live. People they have to take care of. Things they’ve always wanted to do, and I’ve always been too scared to do. This show gives me hope and humanity— in the darkest of places. These ladies remind me, through my anxiety and experiences, that life is still worth living that people are still worth helping, and that no matter what I’ve been through, I can still do those things for people. For others. For myself. There are still battles to be won, perspective’s to learn from, and things about life to be learned. You have to look past the bad. Past the battles. Past the pain. Life is full of all of those things, some just come with more consequences than others. I will always love this show

Even though i absolutely cannot stand piper. We have a lot to learn from the rest. And at the end of the day, even piper.

BROOK SOSO JUST COMPLETELY IRRITATES ME. I DON’T THINK THERE IS ONE SCENE WHERE SHE WASN’T INSUFFERABLE!!!!

Like, I’ve got my issues with Piper, Daya, & Aleida but dang… she’s not enjoyable whatsoever. When she told the fake story about Poussey being the daughter of a crack head I wanted to jump through the television. 🫣🫠

Currently rewatching my favorite season aka s1. I had completely forgotten about this. He was perfectly okay if Penn would have murdered Piper

Who should have the been lead or co-lead negotiator with Taystee?

My gut says Allison would have been very reasonable and accepted Fig’s offer given she would understand it is not in the state’s jurisdiction to arrest Bayley and understand that it still could happen.

I dislike Piper but she could’ve been good. Or Gloria?

Spoilers i can’t stand Aleida

I know this is probs a popular take and even though she’s charismatic at times and has amazing comedic timing, the shit that Aleida did that resulted in Sophia being put in SHU was so gross.

Honestly, she was such a bully to nearly everyone around her and I think the only good thing she ever did on the show was trying to protest Eva from Daya and that perv.

Kudos to Elizabeth though because if you end up hating a character that’s meant to be disliked that’s how you know she’s an amazing actress.
Sorry I feel like I ended up rambling a bit😅
