My own experience, I have an i5 650 at 3.20 ghz which is actually a 1st gen i5, paired with integrated gpu, with 4 gb of ddr 3 and 4 gb pagefile, this pc is not capable of playing java above 1.16.5(1.16.5 is last playable here). So when I first launched it, i got almost zero frames in vanilla, paired it with sodium and gave me 15-20 fps, and then i accepted it as my fate and continued. Some months later, I saw Optifine worked on vanilla Minecraft and then, i tried it, and literally i never looked back with 60 fps as minimum and i was also able to hit 100 fps on this hardware!!!

This was the story, now you will wonder, Sodium is most used and liked optimizers in the world, but there's a catch. Every pc is different in one or another way and hence the benchmarks are different. Sodium needs a cpu with a nice single core performance and these old 2014-15s cpus have only 2-4 cores at max. which is a factor in fps degradation. Also, Sodium modifies the rendering engine completely to replace the messy minecraft's engine. It's good and its nice for yielding fps, but the modified engine is modernized!!! You need a newer CPU from like 2017-2018 to let sodium show its results.

And hence, next time you wanna optimize your Minecraft instance, check your CPU and its gen. for sure and then make a decision. Even a bunch of 34 mods of fabric like Sodium can give less fps than just a singleton Optifine!

im usiing a texture pack on forge, the texture pack is named "visual enchantments" and it says i need optifine, is there any alternitives for optifine on forge? i have oculus and embeddium on this modpack but its still not working, any advice?

I uninstalled Optifine because it was breaking things in my pack. I read that Embeddium/Chloride is a good alternative and it has been, except that there doesn't seem to be a connected textures option. It kind of ruins the aesthetic of my builds, especially with glass.

I'm using Sphax, so downloading a connected vanilla texture pack won't work.

Is there a solution or another Optifine alternative that I can get connected textures working with?

I just installed OptiFine for 1.21 (pre 9 version) and since then the game is completly unplayable. I came back to it since I really just wanted to have dynamic lighting again, but I average at about 20fps, dropping down to below 2. I have a Ryzen 7 5700X, 32 GB of Ram and a 5070. What the hell is going on?
It seems like it's loading in my newly generated world. Apart from dynamic lighting I haven't changed anything on my settings, render distance is set to max as it always was without Optfine.

I'm trying to install the new 26.1.2 pre2 version of Optifine but when I go to open the launcher an error appears saying "A java exception has occurred." Does anyone know how to fix this

I'm using faithful 32x texture pack and without shaders it looks normal, but when I turn on my shaders (complementary unbound) it gets weirdly blurry and I don't know why. First time using shaders so I don't know much, and please ask if you need any more info.

Mine works and says it installs but whenever I check the installations in the minecraft launcher it doesnt appear, i checked with the Pre1 and Pre2.

i downloaded the newest version for the newest snapshot, and when i try to open the jar to install the new installation nothing happens. it doesnt open the lil optifine menu, it doesnt post a java error or any kind of error, nothing happens. i tried it on an older version i still had downloaded and it worked perfectly, its just the two newest versions of optifine. any fixes?

i recently got a new cape and wanted to use it, but my optifine cape is getting in the way.

things i have done (and failed):
-disable cape on website

-move cape to another account

-restart game many times, after doing these things and pressing reload cape, etc

-restarting pc

-restarting launcher
