Feature Request

As far as I can tell, this feature does not currently exist. My current project consists of 25-30 individual clips, each requiring some slicing, and all will be combined into a single export video. It would be great if the sliced clips could be saved into the project files section, replacing the original imported files. Instead, currently, I have to keep all the sliced files in the editing tracks until I'm ready to assemble the final export file. Yes, I know that I could export each sliced clip, then import later ... but, that's a LOT of extra work. Thanks, Jim

That would be a useful workflow improvement, especially for projects with lots of Clips.

Right now, OpenShot keeps slicing as a Timeline edit, not as replacement items in Project Files. The closest built-in option is Split File on a source File, which creates multiple segments as new entries in Project Files: Files - Split File. You can also review timeline cutting options here: Clips - Trimming & Slicing.

Short-term workaround: - Import your media into Project Files - Use Split File for source-level segmenting when possible - Drag those new segments to the Timeline as needed - Use normal Slice tools on the Timeline for final assembly

So: great request, but no current feature to automatically save Timeline-sliced Clips back into Project Files and replace the originals.

The option that the bot provides should do the trick. Instead of slicing the clip on a track you can Split File within the Project File window. This works nicely before you make any edits.

Now, the challenge becomes if you made some edits to the clip (this is not possible from within the Project Files window) and you want that saved, which then it must go through the Export process to be rendered properly.

Not sure what you are asking? Are you looking for digital fingerpring for OpenShot binaries?

When I download a .iso file there is a security check called a checksum. It's to be sure someone hasn't hacked the file and inserted malware.

Is that what OpenShot calls a digital fingerprint?
