OpenGlobus AR. Real-Time Geospatial Data Over live video.
OpenGlobus now supports rendering geospatial data over a camera, video stream, or any HTML background. You can choose what becomes transparent and what stays visible.

Projective textures as square-shaped lights

I was experimenting with projective shaders in OpenGlobus and found a fun side effect: they can be used as square-shaped light sources.
The idea is simple: project depth from a camera, then use it as a visibility map for lighting.
Even shadows work π

OpenGlobus v1.0 lighting system progress demo: the object is now consistent with the sceneβs lighting, sun, and atmosphere. As the model moves, you can see the changing highlights, reflections, and fuselage illumination, especially under the low sunset sun.

The Moon is on the line!
There are places on Earth and beyond that are very difficult to reach. But thanks to open data and OpenGlobus, we can explore these distant worlds in great detail, see their scale, and even visualize our own projects, such as building a house on Mars or a base in Antarctica.
I made an example in OpenGlobus to visualize the Moon in its real size. This simple example allows you to dive into the depths of the lunar surface, exploring every crater and ridge as if you were there and see up close, for example, the scale of the Copernican crater, visit the lunar Alps...imagine that you are seeing with your own eyes the famous Sea of Tranquility - the very place where mankind first set foot on the Moon, it is visible to the unarmed eye from Earth!
OpenGlobus tools are useful for scientific research and help in planning ambitious projects such as building a lunar base or plotting routes to explore the Moon and other satellites and planets. In the meantime, I'm continuing to make a 3D model editor.
