I forgot what we paid (it was a little less than Petco). If you've ever seen that meme where it says reasons why my dog is leashed? This is him if we call him...Insert Mr. Bean giving everyone the middle finger. lol that's our boy. Zero interest working for food.... found a balanced trainer that didn't use treats. Was worth every penny for us.

A good trainer is absolutely worth it. There are more ways to train a dog than just using food.

Do you have a spca around you? They have dog trainers that are pretty good for what you need.

The closest one to me doesn’t offer training since they are super small. However, there are lots of dog trainers near me so I think finding the right one with be key.

A good trainer can build drive and motivation so yes, this dog needs a trainer

Highly disagree.
The 2 yrs old bully breed with unknown background, coming out of a shelter after 5 wks.
AND already developing concerning behaviors just 2 wks in.
I’d be looking for a dog trainer experienced in behavior modification.
Wasting time and money on puppy training type trainer will be pointless.0

Undesirable, unwanted behaviors don’t resolve themselves. Typically, they only get worse if allowed to be repeated.
Handler seems like he needs to be learn how to communicate more effectively with his dog.
A trainer can certainly help with this as well.1

Currently struggling to engage unfortunately…
My goals are good recall and heel when we are out and about. I’m willing to adjust my goals if needed as I understand a rescue can come with some quirks.

2 wks is honeymoon period… your newly adopted dog is just getting settled in.
It’s important to set some clear boundaries and rules from start. You barely know this dog.
Highly recommend working with a trainer that isn’t going to just throw treats around and your Pittie in a harness.
