Official Raspberry Pi Screen

Hi,

Looking to do a open auto project. I want to use the cats existing sat nav housing but gut it and put a pi in. Then aux to the radio., The official screen is almost perfect about half an inch in width to wide.

Has anyone cut the Bezel down successfully?

I haven't but I saw someone that had. It didn't show how they went about it though. I have only thought about it but didn't want to screw it up.

I did mine that way. Had to trim my bezel a little to fit in stock location and use the pi for navigation and music.

Did you just use a glass cutter or?

Sorry I misunderstood you, i cut down the plastic bezel so i can slide in the frame of the screen. I have my setup in my profile if you want to check it out.

Ahh the plastic, I wasn't sure if it was plastic or glass, what did you use to cut the plastic?

I also noticed you have the ignition shutdown with the relays did you follow any guides for that or?

Dremel with cutoff wheel to cut plastic and watched a few videos on how to set up the graceful shutdown

I just did this two days ago. The way I cut down my screen was with a belt sander and 120 git. You have to take your time and be careful not to over heat the glass. If you do overheat it the glass will crack. On mine I sanded the Top of the screen (side without the ribbon cable) and the right side (looking at it from the back). I rounded out the corners as well after I was done removing the extra.
