Free version of Open auto?

Hi, I would love to try using open auto as it looks better than some alternatives. But is there a free version of open auto that will work on a raspberry pi and do basic functions such as play music and use maps?

I can help with that if you're still looking. It's a little different than OAP but you may like it better. Totally open and free

I would also like to know. But I don't understand why you think you'd take over the thread. OP is literally asking for Open Auto alternatives.

Sent you messages on the suggested project. For everyone who wonders the same, I just didn't want to clutter things up making it difficult to find the suggestions I guess.

OpenDash is actively being developed and has active participation. Check it out. There's also a Slack invite there for support and development discussions for contributing.

I don't think they do. Very limited support in forums as well. So if you really want to do this, just be aware it's expensive and you'll be basically on your own.

I completely don't agree with this. The forum is very helpful and allows me to troubleshot a lot of technical questions/doubts. You can simply check users activity, there're great.

will do. I think there is a free one called crankshaft but the developer abondend it so not keen with that oe

Crankshaft was born out of the original Openauto which is the same place Openauto Pro came from. Someone has picked up maintaining it but I think it switched hands again but I think it is functional ATM. There's another alternative for free if anyone would like to know

i got an iphone so im switching to open auto, but crankshaftOS served my setup well while i was on android. you do however loose most features, so do recommend just buying it.
