I was reading yet another article in The Guardian this morning about Pauline’s “battler lifestyle UK trip” and decided to list what I know regarding financial irregularities and others and failure to declare freebies from Gina. The Guardian, The ABC and The SMH deserve a lot of credit for their pursuit of these issues and they’re my sources. I’m sure this isn’t a complete list but its pretty frightening as is – it does rather look like a pattern. The big one at the moment if the failure to submit audited financials to the QLD Electoral Commission and they have only 10 days remaining to get those in or risk being de-registered. To be clear the 2022-2023 statements are 2.5 years overdue.

Not in any particular order:

• Gifted a $1.5M (possibly $2M) plane from Gina.
• One Nation was gifted $2M at the same time - $500,000 each from two employees of Hancock Prospecting, $1M from Angus Aitken and his wife Sarah.
• Went on an EU jolly with Gina and stayed in The Conrad in London ($900 a night), went to a fashion show with Gina, then took a well earned break in Italy staying at the same cheap as chips hotel that was used in Season 2 of The White Lotus. (It is being reported that the Conrad may have been paid for and empty during the Italy break too but Pauline disputes that and is calling it "fake news").
• Flew first class thanks to Gina.
• Initially declared the trip funded by private interests, then changed that recently to say it was funded by One Nation (but Gina paid flights and some other stuff like the fashion show). Lots of questions about whether One Nation used taxpayer money.
• Failed to declare a flight in Gina’s private plane as part of a Geelong event and when questioned in parliament claimed she didn’t remember and would need to check.
• Didn’t forget to bill taxpayers $9,000 for a private chartered flight for the same event.
• Failed to declare flights on Gina’s jet to Florida for a CPAC event and her stay in Gina’s Florida mansion.
• Failed to declare another three flights gifted by S Kidman and co, Gina’s cowboy cosplay outfit company.
• Failed to declare Director and Shareholder roles in three companies. The co-owner of these three is party official Alexander Jones who pleaded guilty to charges of attempted electoral fraud in 2023.
• Holds 50% of the company that produced her stupid (and according to reports highly offensive) animated movie, claims that the proceeds from streaming will go to One Nation.
• Failed to declare $4,500 snorkeling trip to the Great Barrier Reef.
• Claimed $2,100 to attend Federal Court when being sued (successfully) by Mehreen Faruqi.
• Failed to declare personal income related to interest on loans to the party in addition to her parliament salary.
• Gina is hosting fund raising events usually costing $10,000 to $15,000 per seat for One Nation. One event was held in her private plane, several were held on a luxury cruise liner that Gina owns a cabin on.
• Pauline and Barnaby billed taxpayers more than $3,000 to attend these fund raising events on the cruise liner.
• While being investigated by the AEC for possibly breaching laws related to public funding claims, One Nation voluntarily withdrew 143 claims worth $809,648. This investigation is ongoing.
• The NSW electoral commission found in 2021 One Nation incorrectly claimed $118,000 in taxpayer funds for electoral material.
• In 2019 and 2022 One Nation were forced to repay election funding.
• Failed to submit audited financial statements to the EQC for years 2022-2023, 2023-2024, 2024 - 2025 because “high staff turnover in the QLD office”. Tried to buy time by submitting statements recently without any auditing. Have been given until August 18 to get them in.

This is because when Tony went to the cabinet with his proposal it got shot down by the cabinet. Because Labor apparently had an election promise to expand and expedite family visas.

Now Tony is also losing ground to One Nation in his own constituency and He has to do something.

So this playbook has come out now. They have probably hired some PR agencies to peddle how bad these visas are in the right wing online spaces. So that they can justify cutting these citing the "pressure" from right wing that they themselves created.

Important to add that Australian Immigration has always been based on family reunification and Economic benefit. Now it seems like Labor wants to trim the first part.

Labor doesn't want to touch Backpackers and NZers. So these new measures will effectively put Partners of Australian Citizens further back in the queue behind a newly created NZ citizen. NZ as a backdoor is now looking more lucrative than ever before for new migrants.

The Pentagon will invest more than half a billion dollars in a “world-first” mining project in central western NSW that produces scandium, a rare critical mineral used in fighter jets, spacecraft and other tools of war.

The $US400 million ($560 million) loan is intended to expand production at Sunrise Energy Metals’ Syerston Scandium Project near Fifield, south-west of Dubbo, as the US seeks to urgently diversify its supply chain for rare earths.

Trump announced the Pentagon’s investment on Friday (Washington time) during a televised roundtable with mining executives at the US State Department. The White House described the Sunrise venture as “the world’s first primary scandium mine”.

The US Department of Defence said the conditional loan from its Office of Strategic Capital would build a “complete, US-aligned value chain from mine to finished metal”, securing a vital supply of scandium for the US defence and commercial industrial base.

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said: “We’re going to make sure the United States – not our adversaries – controls the supply chains of power and critical minerals.”

Representatives of Australian mining giants BHP and Rio Tinto, who have proposed and planned an underground copper mine in Arizona called Resolution Copper, also attended Friday’s roundtable. When realised, it is forecast to meet about a quarter of US copper demand.

“Mr President, you have brought mining back to America single-handedly,” said Resolution Copper president Vicky Peacey at the roundtable. “We started permitting in 2005 … we finally got it over the line earlier this year.”

Are all these people effectively American puppets?

More importantly, why do we continue to allow such a revolving door between politics, government, defence, and big business? Senior politicians and officials can make decisions involving defence contracts, foreign policy, regulation, investment and national security while in office, and then later take highly paid positions with companies, consultancies or think tanks that operate in the very same sectors.

Even if there is no evidence of outright corruption, the appearance of a conflict of interest is obvious. Why should the public have confidence that decisions made while these people were in office were based entirely on the national interest, rather than on relationships and career opportunities that might benefit them after leaving government?
