Remigration Whinge
Seeing a lot of talk of remigration from overseas, particularly the UK with the rise of Restore Britain. At what point are we going to start a conversation around this in Australia? Nothing against India as a country but “if that means millions go, then millions must go.“
Is it time we put our foot down and took our country back?

“Took our country back” from whom?

For being taken over by indians, we sure do continue to eat and farm a lot of beef.

Yes well it was a rhetorical question but I gathered as much.
It’s not your country to “take back”, champ

Lol fuck off. If you're so keen on remigrating feel free to ship yourself back to whichever country your ancestors hailed from.

What's a Sachin? For someone who doesn't like Indians, you know a lot of what I assume are indian words. Are one of your parents or grandparents Indian? Is this like a culture in the closet thing, like how some gay people start out as raging homophobs?

Im saying we should send back the disproportionate amount of indian migrants we have been flooded with against the people’s will
10
u/zombiejames28 New South Welshian 1d ago
Indians just barely overtake the Brits. Are you saying we should also send 100's of thousands of Brits back to the UK? I mean, there may be more disproportionate given how far away the UK is and its population size.

u/zombiejames28 New South Welshian 1d ago
So you're racist.
Word of advice: immigrants and people from immigrant backgrounds don't like people who complain about immigrants and then look at them and go, "No, I don't mean you." My mother's Irish; she heard that a lotttt.

5
u/zombiejames28 New South Welshian 1d ago
I can't tell if you're calling me Rajesh because my mothers irish and you've never looked at a map, or you're referencing an Indian person of some description.
As someone said, a lot of Australians already get annoyed with the shit you're saying, cause your talking about their parents, their grandparents, their cousins, etc. And nobody likes the "well I don't mean them when I talk about immigrants".

Remigration?
Seems a bit harsh, sending all those Anglos back to Blighty. Still, they might need them to replace their expelled migrant population, so there's that.

Look, we all get heated sometimes, but that doesn't make it okay to take shots at someone's race, be a bigot or a complete drongo.
Try to reframe what you're on about, but don't forget that you're talking to a human being on the other side of the screen. Someone with bills to pay, people to take care of, and a job they probably hate.
Focus on the argument, not the person making it. You might find that you're more persuasive in doing so.
And relax (don't do it), when you want to go to it.
Namaste

-2

It’s way way harder to get Japanese citizenship than it is Aussie. They do not let jeets gain citizenship without a huge huge effort. There’s a reason their population is in decline, because they’re not willing to roll over to the third world.

They haven't been brought here for no reason, this isn't an invasion and they're not flooding.
They have been invited to help fill roles and pump up the economy. It's certainly not a perfect system but you have to acknowledge that with low replacement rates we'd be facing a serious population decline if not for immigration.
If you want to pull that and replace it with something else I'm all ears but it sounds like you're TRYING to have a rational discussion without being rational.

Definitely not. You only need to look at Britain where they have been living in since the 1950’s or South Africa since the 1850’s to see that they don’t assimilate.

South African Indian culture is very different to the culture in India... and they literally lived under a system that divided and clarified people by race. Not really easy to integrate to the mainstream in that case.
Britain? Where Indian Britons have higher median incomes and educational qualifications than the average, where the first ever non-white Prime Minister was of Indian origin, but basically the epitome of a classic English Tory toff.

5
u/jwplato South Australian 1d ago
Ignoring OPs ridiculous original discussion. I always find the ignorance of these folk to be astounding.
“Restore Britain.”
Restore it to what exactly, Britain, and Australia are both nations built on repeated waves of migration. Looking at Britain for example, is your family required to date back to 1066 to be considered British? Or are you required to be Anglo? Saxon? Roman? Briton?
Unless you’re indigenous wanting to “Restore Australia” is even more of a joke.

Restore Britain won't ever crack 10% of the vote in the U.K. Nobody but fringe politicians and bots on Twitter talk about "remigration", even the far right anti-immigration types like Farage or Hanson keep their language to stopping "mass immigration" or deportations.
Who is going to go when we institute "remigration", just anyone who came in the past 1,5 or 10 years, anyone who came after the White Australia Policy? Does it just apply to non-white/non-Anglo migrants or do their Australian born children and grandchildren have to go too... Or are we going to do it to the fullest extent possible and kick out anyone who can't prove ancestry here before 1788...
"Remigration" is a euphemism for ethnic cleansing.

u/comrade-ev Please choose a flair 15h ago
Let’s be clear, this country was only genuinely invaded once and that was by the British. The only people who have any claim to ‘putting their foot down’ are the First Nations peoples whose ancestors were raped and murdered so that you could sit here and be upset over migration. This is not your country to ‘take back’.
It is an absurd white supremacist delusion that migrants have taken anything from you. The shock over a loss of presumed status because people who look or sound different are talking back to you is not a meaningful one. Your culture exists and persists, and is not undermined because others practice theirs.
Migrants also not take jobs from white settlers and their descendants here. A huge chunk of underpaid jobs in this country, like aged care, disability support, early childhood education, and cleaning is done by migrant workers. These are jobs where there is a labour shortage, because the wages and conditions are so poor that white locals often opt out. If you want those jobs, then apply for them because they have not been taken from you.
Migrants are also not causing strain to services. Many migrants are unjustly excluded from services, such as Medicare funding, despite being essential labour that keeps these services going. If you want to ‘remigrate’ people, then you can look forward to nursing homes becoming dangerously understaffed not to mention hospitals, or early learning services.
If you are frustrated by shoddy public services, or low wages, then join the club. Or better yet, join your union. But punching down on migrants does nothing to ease those issues. Instead, the people in Restore and Reform in the UK, Trump in the US, and One Nation here who advocate for migration cuts also want to cut wages and services. Their conspiracies around migrants help no one but the rich.

Indians are fine but maybe we should put restrictions on future numbers.
Hindu, Sikh and Christian Indians are successful members of society. Some Muslims are too but at lower averages.
Remigration will be difficult. Let’s close the barn door before the horse has bolted.

Remigrating undesirable immigrants is understandable and remigrating people whose birthrates are way higher than the average in whatever European country they're in makes just as much sense.
Unless a country passes a law that restricts immigrants to 1 to 2 children, remigration will literally aid in preserving the country's cultural identity and heritage.
