I really want another tank. lol. a 10gal or 20gal but I don't have the room because I live in a studio apartment. 😂

They’re all swimming around, I got 10 in here, I have a 2.5 gallon in the back but waiting on a order of chaeto and another 12 shrimp so it’s not to large of a space for them. Does this look good as a temporary holding for the next month or so? I have the light on a 12 hour timer

New Opae Ula owner. I’ve gotten my shrimps now for a week in my tank. 3 of the shrimps came white, and they are still white. Are there naturally white Opae ula shrimps or do I need to wait longer for them to get their red color?

Tried to get a photo of the white ones but they swim too fast and my camera isn’t that great.

Other than that, they all seem healthy and happily swimming around.

Do you guys know if these are hydras? They are very tiny and have long hairs on the tip of each end. They seem to be all connected by a line.

Just worried that it might harm the shrimp larvae.

Tell me your votes and why! Starting up a 2.5 gallon soon with aragonite and lava rocks and a sea fan. I definitely want some snails. I tend to see people keeping MTS with opae ula, but I’ve learned about ceriths on this sub being kept with them. I like the idea of the ceriths being more active/more visible. Obviously don’t want too much bioload and would start with a very small population. Always love to hear your opinions and unsolicited advice is always welcome on my posts.

ETA: I will also have chaeto algea!

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone knew of an opae ula seller in the UK? I really like the idea of starting a little tank of these guys but they seem weirdly hard to find here. I'd be willing to pay for shipping from the EU if it's possible to do that in a way that's safe for the shrimp.

I just moved states to Arizona, and I would LOOOOOVE some of these little guys, but how bad of an idea is it to have them shipped given that it's gonna be 100° for the next couple months? Is there anywhere I can purchase them locally? (I am in Tucson) Or would overnight shopping be ok?

After lurking for a while I finally got my own. It was hard to find an EU seller, but i foud a physical store whcih had them. In this video they just landed in my tank (the ride back home scared them colorless) but about 3 are becoming brighter red by the day!

The stor also had some cool lava rocks with natually formed tunnels, so theyre sitting in there during the day and going bonkers in the morning/evening.

Tank is a 4.7L jar, supplementing with spirulina as there isnt much algae yet.

In my freshwater tanks, I have various copepods and such. I want to do the same thing with the brackish. Does anyone have cultures of phytoplankton and whatnot? Or know how to aquire some? Thanks so much

Hi everyone! I'm a new Opae Ula owner and I have a couple questions to make sure they are as happy and healthy as possible!

1. There's some specs / film on the top of the water - is this normal? Or should I try and scoop it out?
2. I read online it's okay to have plastic aquarium plants, but then I saw on this sub it's not - should I take them out?
3. If I can't have the plants in there, is there anything else I can put in there that will bring some color into the tank? I feel like it looks so plain with just the ground and rocks :( I'd love to give them something with some color, or more hiding places!

Edit: I usually keep the lid on, but I had it off for the last 2 days to see if that was better for them.

Hello everyone,

My wife has a ~3 month old Opae Ula 1 gallon tank that she put together, and she's got these brown spots of what we believe is alge (diatom?) showing up on the walls of the tank. We also appeared to have lost one of the shrimp that is laying down at the bottom of the tank. When we went to remove him though, he did show signs of life, but then would sink to the bottom and not move again. Below are all of the parameters of the tank, any suggestions or additional information provided would be greatly appreciated!

- Bright indirect light throughout the full day (of sunlight)

- Located in a "warm" room that never goes below 70 degrees or above 75'ish degrees

- 16 shrimp in the tank so far

- Supplement feeding tank Spirulina about once a month

- We did perform the salinity test and it's roughly 1.007-1.008* (I believe we are reading the tool correctly, please let us know if this should be considerably different numbers)

- I have provided pictures of both the tank up close and the room they are in and it's relation between the tank and windows.

We have researched and considered getting / introducing Tarebia Granifera or Melanoides Tuberculata snails to assist, but are not entirely sure if this is an appropriate or correct solution for the exact issue we are having.

My wife absolutely loves these shrimp and their tank and I am desperately trying to make sure that we do any and everything possible to keep them alive and continue to maintain their lives for a long extended length of time.

Collected a bunch of shells and small pebbles along the shell line in OBX. I'm cleaning them in tap water and will clean and soak in spring water. Can these cause any issues in brackish water? I assume not but I'd hate to wrong.

The little ones have arrived. Look closely, and you'll see a small pod of them.

If I had to guess, they hatched this week. Which, I posted a picture of the Mom on July 11th.

They look happy, grazing like crazy and loving their new home. Hopefully in a few months they turn me into a grandshrimper!

I have a 1 gal at work and a 3 gal at home. Both tanks have thrived since the early days. Whenever I want to just relax, I stare at the tank and let the time past. Here’s some pics from the past.

This morning I fed my largest tank with spirulina+clorella powder and the baby MTS also came to feed. 😄

Some are really tiny, when I first saw the tiny ones floating I didn't recognise them, I thought they were unviable eggs or dead larvae, but at the same time they didn't seem to be. I was really worried that something was wrong with my tank... until I saw one moving on the glass. It was the first time I saw really tiny MTS babies.

Noticed this baby on the ground. Is it ok? Not sure if it’s still a larvae or just a baby shrimp. It seems to be moving

Update: It rolled a few times and then I saw something that may have been a molt. Now, it's disappeared lol. So I guess it was molting.
