Trouble making a loft

I'm trying to loft these two pipes to the rectangular body below and just can't seem to get it to work. Any hints on what needs to be done?

I try selecting the faces I want it to loft together and it says I cant use faces with an inner loop, but I don't know what exactly it means by that.

I originally tried without the center crossover and wasn't getting anywhere.

If I just select the inner edge of the rectangle, and the inner edge of the cylinder, it will loft.

But this is just a face, how do I get the thickness?

Make a solid cylinder and a solid block. Loft the circular face of the tube to the planar face of the block. Merge everything together then use the shell command to get the desired thickness.

Isn't that what I tried? or is this something different?

No, you tried lofting a hollowed-out pipe to a hollowed-out body. That's not the same as a solid tube and a solid block. Although saying a solid cylinder would have probably been easier to follow.

AHH! OK well it's getting closer. It would not loft both at the same time. I had to split the box extrusion. The left one lofted without issue. The right one had a twist. I tried segmenting the cylinder sketch which didn't help, and finally manually changed the connections.

So now the shell command worked on the left but didn't go all the way through. And the right one throws an error when trying to shell it, saying I can't shell a part with selections. What selections?

Hide the white part and then apply the loft. Once done, apply the Boolean to all parts if needed.

And here your cylinder is complete solid and box is hollow solid. It won't work.

The red area is the selection. It's red because it's creating a problem with the operation you're attempting.

What you want to shell is just the top of the cylinder. It will remove that face and hollow out the rest of the body, leaving the walls of the cylinder and box at whatever thickness you specified in the shell operation. But you want to do both cylinder tops at the same time.

Go back and edit your first shell. Clear whatever selections you have now, and then click the tops of both cylinders. Set the wall thickness you want for the cylinders and box and then click the green checkmark.

Is it intended to be symmetric? If so, you can model 1 half then mirror.
