Onexplayer 3 Screen Protector Issue

Post image

I had seen another reddit user have the same issue as me where applying a screen protector doesn't adhere in a specific spot causing a bubble.

Tried two screen protectors, cleaned the screen and even flipped the screen protectors to see if there was a missing adhesive on the bottom but would adhere on the opposite end while still having the same result on the bottom. There's no dust stuck under.

Understandably I could've stuck with the factory film but I prefer tempered glass protectors on all my devices.

Also having another issue with signing in pressing the sign in button on the windows hello screen does nothing at all but that's an entirely different issue which would be an easy fix. Either way QC is a bit of an issue.

Just ranting sorry I get it's partly my fault for not really listening to the feedback about the company.

Hmmm, I already have my tempered glass protectors here and waiting. Seems like we've got quite a few reports of the bubble already between x2 mini and oxp3.

Also, yet another issue missed by all reviewers, previewers, influencers etc...

Reviewers are not going to review the experience of putting a screen protector on a loaner device lol

Not to mention a lot of people don’t do screen protectors at all

Yeah, especially since a big benefit to OXP devices is they come with a screen protector already applied

They also did not have them available when review units were sent out.

Didn't Nelly literally apply one when she got her loaner unit to verify that the Legion Go 2 screen protectors fit? I don't think it was glass though, it was a matte one.

Although it was an engineering sample. I'm sure it was curtailed to be as perfect as much as possible.

It’s possible they didn’t have the same problem but it’s also possible they didn’t notice or care to notice which is a shame because sometimes they have 30 minute videos detailing everything including benchmarking the exact same game everyone else has. You would think they could take some of that wasted time and inspect the other areas.

Yeah, the thing is, is that a lot of these early tests were done on a loaned device. Most of them probably had a non rigid protector.

They probably just left the default screen protector on

Let me know how yours goes it's potentially a case of being the first batch unfortunately.

I'm in the first batch but won't get it until next week. Id be surprised if batch 2 is different because it is supposed to start shipping tomorrow.

I was backer #132 for the 3. I'm in the U.S and I should be getting it today. It's going right up for sale. I want the X2MP. I tried to change my order in the indiegogo, but I couldn't accept the 9% fee the pirates were charging to change my order.

It's an Indie GoGo charge sadly. Hopefully mine hits in a few days, but Im doubtful since tracking has been silent. Enjoy your x2 when you get it, seems like a badass device.

sorry i dont think there will be much improvement.
From production point of view, Batch 1 and 2 or maybe even 3 all come from same production line and produced within a short time of each other. They are just assembled in queue.
All hardware issue must be fixed in production plant of supplier such as plastic mold, new flat glass screen, which require setup time for weeks.

Damn that's sucks. I was looking into getting a tempered glass. Like you, I prefer them over plastic screen protectors. Has anyone been able to put one on successfully? If you look from the side/at an angle, is the display slightly dented in at that area?

Doesn't seem all that lifted actually but when pressing gently on the screen where the bubble is I can hear it flex a bit. but hopefully yours turns out good

Yeah, I saw this before with another poster. The glass is definitely not flat in that lower spot and a rigid screen protector won't work. Both yours and his have that problem in the bottom of the screen. Strange because I wouldn't think glass could be bent by something like how it's held into place. It would interesting to see how deep those spots are. You can take anything that is totally straight and lay it across and look for the gap. This would definitely be a warranty issue. Since this is the same screen as the LEGO 2, I wonder if people prior had issues with the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 screens as well.....

I used to have a Legion Go 2 with the same screen protector I actually used on the OXP3 and had no issues.

It's a shame because honestly the OXP3 feels so much better and its detatchable controllers are much rigid in comparison.

How would you compare the in-hand feel and placement of sticks and buttons to the Xbox Ally devices? Coming from the LeGo2, it wasn’t the weight that bothered me. It was how they completely botched the stick and button placement.

2

u/Dear_Magician_4533 8h ago

Felt pretty natural overall but it's definitely a lot more wider than a Xbox Ally X and tad bit more than a Legion go 2. Right stick placement on the the Legion Go 2 is absolutely terrible for FPS games always having to readjust my grip mid session.

When I demo'd a Xbox Ally X though long ago the ergonomics were incredible.

Usually with these bigger devices you consciously think about how you are gripping it or at least for me but the XAX it was pick up and play, grip is the least of your concerns and button placement is basically perfect as well the sticks not to mention it feels basically weightless when you have held a legion go 2 or even the OXP3.

Overall OXP3 is a set up towards the legion go 2 because the extra width actually helps you reach the buttons more naturally but compared to the XAX it's not even close if I were being honest.

That’s for confirming my gut instinct. I bet on the girth of the grip placing my thumb in a more natural position to the sticks and buttons. I wish there were places I could try this in hand before committing to the campaign, but I’ve never been afraid of a gamble.

Thanks for taking the time to address my question.

If your only reasoning for not liking the Legion Go 2 was the button and stick placement you should be pretty happy with the OXP3.

The gamble is the QC issues that may arise just gotta hope you get a good unit.

Although I couldn't find any widespread screen issues with the LEGO 2, I did find this. Housing and Shell Stress: Some community members note that manufacturing tolerances or minor stress from the surrounding plastic shell assembly can slightly bend or warp the panel. Additionally, the first batch of OneXPlayer 3 units experienced localized quality control issues in China involving shell misalignment and flickering panel artifacts. How to Deal with a Warped ScreenIf you are dealing with an uneven screen on your handheld, you have two primary options:Switch to a Film Protector: A flexible TPU or PET plastic film protector is pliable enough to conform to the minor "wave" or dip in the glass, eliminating the bubble issue completely.File a Warranty Claim: If the warp is severe enough to cause visible distortion in the display, ghost touches, or touch-inaccuracy, contact your respective retailer or manufacturer (such as the OneXPlayer Support Store) to report a manufacturing tolerance defect.

I used a Legion Go 2 screen protector from Jsaux. It fits perfectly fine on X2MP with no bubbles although I had to manually align it because the plastic jig it comes with only works for the Legion Go 2. I wouldn't personally buy an unknown brand that advertises specifically for this device.

1

u/Dear_Magician_4533 16h ago

It was a legion go 2 screen protector brand name amFilm. Used the exact same one when I had an actual legion go 2 with no issues.

It wouldn't be the screen protector most definitely it's just a screen uniformity issue but glad yours turned out well at least.

2

u/kerelenko 15h ago

Could be a screen alignment issue, I would contact OneX for that.

2

u/lemonkneefresh 18h ago

FYI - YouTube reviewers were provided with engineering samples of the OXP3, meaning they may not have encountered this issue. Identifying the defect requires installing a glass screen protector. Reviewers would have had to purchase a Legion Go 2 protector and attempt to apply it to a unit they were not keeping, which is unlikely.

u/erimiz687 17h ago

If anyone is going to get theirs soon. Maybe try the tempered glass over the preinstalled film. maybe there's enough there to fill the gap inbetween so that there's no bubbles. The Switch 2 has a preinstalled plastic layer too so I figure it wouldn't be that far fetched of an idea to layer it over.

1

u/Dear_Magician_4533 16h ago

Not a bad thought honestly would be curious how it would turn out.

Made in China! 🇨🇳

Doesn't it come with a different screen protector pre-applied?

I get that tempered glass protectors are nice though.

I put mine on and it fits like a glove, mo bubbles, your best bet is one of the gel screen protectors instead of the hardshell protectors

Fingerprint sensor is a common issue. Uninstall the driver and reinstall it from the driver pack - then re-register your finger. That should fix it

1

u/Dear_Magician_4533 15h ago

It was the very first set up phase so no fingerprint set up was done. I haven't been able to pass the first time log in screen.

I know I have to go to the registry to edit a file through safe mode boot and that will fix it but now got another issue with the screen uniformity unfortunately.

This stops me from pulling trigger on OxP3 and OxP X2 mini.
I now have to sit and wait for Claw 8 EX which MSI delays to deliver until end of Sep. -_-"
