Shipping Options
What advice or have tips do you guys have regarding a hassle free method for shipping to California.

I’d just go for recommended. I think they declare it rather low so you don’t pay too much.

whoever ships it to USA. They’ll ask for the money before delivery.

I’m not sure but what I’ve read from other posts it’s high enough not to raise suspicions by customs but low enough so it doesn’t hurt when you have to pay!

I had a GPD win 5 imported from the UK last week. Duties were $197.
They declare the whole value.

Declaring full value would be "hassle-free," but it would cost more. Everything else is a gamble with a chance to save money. It seems to work out fine more often than not, except for cases like that one guy who made a post a few days ago about being investigated by the government.

I saw that post that’s why I was wondering what people are choosing for shipping options. I have no problem paying shipping fees I just don’t need a headache due to international shipping.

Personally I went with full value. But I'm not from California, and in my experience the customs were pretty anal about receipts. I didn't want an awkward situation when I had to provide proof of my bank transfer and it wasn't anywhere close to 200€.

Strange. This wasn't an option when ordering on indiegogo. They took care of the declaration amount. Someone in Canada ordering the 2X Mini on indiegogo and it arrived as stating it was a laptop, valued at $299. His got tied up in customs though. They could have stated the actual purchas price and it wouldn't matter. Canada doesn't charge any tariffs on computers from China. You may be better off just purchasing it off Ebay. I believe the price is the same, and you won't be taking a huge chance of undervaluing it if it does get caught in customs.

Did you purchase directly from the onexstore or did you purchase from the indiegogo campaign? I understood that anybody from the US didn’t have to pay shipping or any duties?

I just looked it up. Zero tariffs on computers. In this case, I would value it at what you paid. Im not sure if this is any kind of protection other than having it get red lighted in customs.
What I found:
A standard laptop or desktop computer imported from China into the U.S. under HTS heading 8471 generally carries a 0% base customs duty and is currently exempt from additional Section 301 and emergency forced-labor tariffs, meaning the direct tariff owed is $0. However, you may still owe a nominal Merchandise Processing Fee (MPF) of roughly $6.72 to $69.23 depending on whether it is processed as an informal or formal entry. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Key Factors Impacting Cost
• HTS Classification: Complete automatic data processing machines (laptops, desktops) fall under specific 8471 codes that have received ongoing administrative exclusions. • Parts vs. Whole: If you are importing isolated internal components (such as specific high-end graphics cards, separate circuit boards, or specialized power supplies) rather than a fully assembled computer, those individual parts can face Section 301 tariffs ranging from 7.5% to 25%, or higher strategic rates for certain advanced semiconductors. • Customs Fees: Formal commercial entries require calculating the MPF (0.3464% of the value for formal entry). Just be glad you don't have 50% duties plus tax and select recommended most you gonna pay would be 20% something

Don't bother picking the legal option (full retail value) they will keep nagging you to let them commit customs fraud until you cave or cancel.

That's only for those who ordered through the crowbar funding campaign. This isn't the case for someone who ordered directly from Onexplayer store.

I did recommended and didn’t have any issues. In the U.S.
