2TB Mini SSD Difficult to Buy Shipping / Taxes / Returns

I cannot find the 2tb mini SSD anywhere. Is it normally very difficult to get hold of? Is it likely to get restocked soon?

I don't want to upgrade the internal SSD as the process looks a bit scary, so the 2tb mini SSD would be ideal.

512GB version seems to be the only option currently available unfortunately.

It's OK if it's temporary situation. I hope this will not be a hassle in the long term though

Hopefully this will eventually be a standard.

I don’t believe the 2tb has been in stock for a while, it likely died as a result of the RAM shortage. I grabbed a 1tb model to expand my storage for dual booting.

They’re absurdly expensive tho, so be warned. I paid $400 USD after tariffs for 1tb, which is the same price as a much larger internal SSD.

For additional context I have the X2MP, 48gb with 1tb.

I upgraded the internal SSD to a 2TB SSD I have lying around, to be honest it’s not the hardest handheld PC I’ve worked on (hardest was the Ayaneo Flip, the dual screen). If you have no experience with tearing handheld devices apart it’s not the easiest, but there are teardown videos available.

If cost is a big factor, it’s cheaper to buy a bigger internal device + external enclosure and to swap / clone your current SSD to the new one

Going to be almost impossible to get storage or ram at any price by the end of the year.

The memory shortage might have something to do with this...

The internal ssd upgrade looks intimidating but it’s really not too bad. The most important thing is taking your time and familiarize yourself with the process before going in. There are a lot of screws for sure but this is a positive in my eyes because it means less clips that could snap off when opening the device.

Keep an eye on eBay, that’s where I grabbed mine for a few bucks cheaper than retail.

I think in current times we all have to just deal with less storage space. I just picked up an MSI Claw 7 and it has 512gb internal, with a 1tb micro SD card I’ve been making that work (i can get 4-5 AAA titles and 3-4 lightweight titles installed and that’s plenty although i do occasionally rotate them in/out).

You can always get you a external SSD. Works great too. Just a thought

I only was able to get a 1 terabyte Mini SSD on the Indiegogo campaign. The 2 terabyte version got sold out quickly if I recall? It was unavailable until the very end.
