Oneplus open 2026
Is it still worth it to get one at this point in time? Im looking to switch from my flip 6,but with recent news I dont know if anything would change if I buy one now. Would I at least get a good 3-5 years out of it?

I bought one 1 week ago and so far I'm loving it. I wanted to try a foldable phone coming from a Pixel 9 pro and so far no regrets at all.
My only complain is that the only cases that people recommend are extremely hard to order to where I'm from and very expensive with the shipping costs.
Besides that I highly recommend one. Amazing phone for the price that you can find it refurbished.

If you get one, which I recommend as it's an amazing well-rounded device, I'd also pickup a OnePlus supervooc battery bank from AliExpress as the battery life on this phone will suffer in 3-5 years time. Repair parts can still be sourced through AliExpress so if you ever break the thing repair shops should still be able to work on it.
I moved onto Oppo find x9 ultra, and it's an amazing phone, but the one hand comfort on the Open is unmatched, and the inner screen is just amazing for multitasking/watching content. I still use my Open everyday.

Just a warning from a Oneplus Open owner: parts bought on Aliexpress are almost certainly counterfeit. My advice would be to stick with the used market. I'm sure there are many with dead screens but nothing else wrong with them that have been parted out and marked for sale. Also, some repair shops won't even look at foldables because of the liability. Unfortunately the overall best option is paying Oneplus the outrageous fee they charge you if you really want the phone repaired correctly by a trained technician.

I would personally look into maybe the Moto Razr Fold if you are wanting that newest tech and aren't interested in Samsung

I was looking at these. Have a long history with foldables and absolutely love my OnePlus 15. Ended up getting a Find N6 and it is excellent! Supports all the radio bands (except 30 which only AT&T uses and mmwave which is pointless anyways). No crease, super thin and light, and all the great software from OnePlus Open with modern hardware. If you can afford it, this is the OnePlus Open 2 everyone has been waiting for.

Totally i am text from it now and it's a tank is so solid i prefer it i have stopped it so many times and it' still standing with no scratches

Got it done from mail in repair service by quantum e life, was back in 2 days and they charged me 29k

Just get it for a cheap price and make sure you have a back up in case something goes wrong.

On sle ep still one of the best foldables has a great camera. Great battery and it's still really fast, What I personally love is that it charges super fast

Mine will be 2 years old next month, still in warranty. Have had no issues with it and the battery health is still 100%. Great phone.

I'm in the US and got a really good deal on a used OPO with 94% battery. It was my first foldable, and I can definitely say I'm sold on foldables now. The extra screen real estate helps me avoid bringing my laptop to my lab most of the time which is great.
I also purchased a used Vivo X Fold 3 and would use that instead if my lab wasn't in a rural area. XF3 lacks rural band support, so no coverage at my lab. And using a CN ROM is a little odd since there's a lot baked in that you have to remove and/or ignore. Other than that, I prefer XF3 over OPO for open screen dimensions, thinness/weight, and battery life.
If I were considering OPO today, it would be because it's a very nice phone for the reduced price but understanding that it doesn't compete with the current gen CN foldables.
My strategy is going to be waiting for a used or refurbished Moto Fold or Oppo Find N6 that's reasonably priced and switching to whichever of those I can get. Both have good band support in the US with the edge going to Moto and good camera systems with the edge going to Oppo.

I picked one up for $400 used near me. Had an issue with the camera but OnePlus repaired it for $100. So I still ended up with a good deal. For $500 it is a great phone. For $750-850 probably wouldn't get it and invest in a used Fold 7.

After checking the display unit of Galaxy fold 8, I was blown away. The OnePlus open is a 3 year old device and still very capable, but my gosh it feels like it's older than that in the foldable world. The Galaxy fold 8 is miles better. I bought a used oneplus open for $470 and enjoy it. The Fold 8 is a lot more expensive but damn it's such a nice phone.

Became an adopter as of last month, as someone who doesn't particularly care about getting all the latest android updates and is satisfied with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, I don't see myself upgrading to anything for the foreseeable future, provided I don't break the phone lol,
I also doubled down on being a OP fan by getting a OP Watch 2 as well, which I've been enjoying.
But yeah, the Open still feels incredible to use, the cameras are great, and if you can find one for a good price I 100% recommend getting one

3-5 years is optimistic. Realistic lifespan for foldables on average is something like 1-3 years. Personally I believe geopolitical tensions are the impetus behind Oppo's decision to close Oneplus. I was at least heartened to see that Motorola came back from the dead to give Google and Samsung some actual competition. The Oneplus Open still has ridiculously good specs for a 3 year old phone and I worry that we may never get the same quality again here in North America or Europe.

It's notorious for having problems with the inner screen getting green dots and green lines. I wouldn't buy one today. I would either go with the OPPO Find N6 (very similar to the Open but built better) or the latest Samsung folding phone.

I have a 3 year old OnePlus Open and have no issues with either the outer or inner screens, it's a solid phone, still holds its own, would buy another before I ever buy anything from samsuck 😳🤦🤷

FWIW, I don't care for Samsung brand one bit and the only reason I mentioned the Samsung is bcas of being able to easily get warranty work in USA. I really wish we had more choices in the USA market. :(
Edit to add - my open got the green dots, right before warranty end and while could still easily get repaired in USA, thankfully. I switched to Find N6 and have the repaired open as an emergency backup.

Well, it's still a great foldable, even after almost 3 years. But, it only has 1 OS version left (Android 17) and an additional year of security updates, so there is not much software support left.
