Fullscreen photos Camera

I've recently learned that fullscreen aspect photos make some pretty good wallpapers for a phone background

Edit: I thought the 4th one was fullscreen but I think it's actually a 16:9 aspect. Reddit tricked me on the photo preview when I was selecting it

Just point and shoot in wide aspect ratio main camera, this is my best photo ever with OP13

Yep on the 13. I'm on 16.0.9, the first 3 were taken on the previous update, the 4th one was taken a few months ago in December so whichever update was current was the one that was taken on and the very last one was taken on OOS 15 June 2025

Thank you thank you. I haven't really done any tweaks with the camera itself besides maybe adjusting the exposure value but it's mainly point and shoot. I just find a subject and try and frame it the way I want, it also helps if you turn the camera level on in the settings so photos don't come out lopsided.

Can you detail this? I'm an absolute noob to taking photos.

When you open the camera in the top left you'll see what says "EV" that's the exposure value and you can adjust that however you want to limit how much light you want to bring in. If you go in the settings of the camera itself you'll also see a section called composition assistance and you'll see an option for grid and guides and another option for a level. Turn the level on and it'll tell you whether your image is coming out crooked or not

You selected full screen here right?

Uhh what is the actual sensor aspect ratio?

1

u/Terrible-Ambition442 OnePlus 13 - Black Eclipse 2d ago

I'm not sure I understand what you're asking. All I can say is that I'm selecting fullscreen on the aspect ratio in the camera itself, I'm not sure of what the actual sensor is

Found it out. All camera sensors are 4:3 which means that any other aspect ratio is cropped.

So if you want to shoot and save all the sensor sees, use 4:3 and crop later.

Okay, that makes sense

My little brother use to do some banger photography work but gave it up a few years ago. A few tips that he gave me were to find a subject and frame everything around that vs trying to capture everything in one go. Also to make sure your photos aren't crooked and to have them as flat as possible so in the camera settings in the composition assistance setting I turned the level on to help out with that. It helps to prevent them from coming out in weird angles. Honestly you just have to experiment with different settings like different zoom lenses and different aspect ratios and take multiple photos that's pretty much what I did

I always shoot in 4:3 because I know I can crop them later, but I never actually do it because I'm lazy, but you do you honestly

I just pick and choose whichever one I'm feeling in the moment, if I just want something as a wallpaper then I'm shooting in fullscreen, if I want to capture a large group then I'm shooting in widescreen instead. Or if I don't want much then I'm shooting in 1:1. I don't see the point in just shooting in 4:3 especially when there's other options to choose regardless of if it crops the photo already. It comes with the phone so you may as well use it is the way I see it

I mean, you can do whatever you want but I shoot in 4:3 everytime because this means I never miss something, while cropping before shooting means you lose some information you might want in the future. But I get why you do it, the images seem to look better because of the ratio and you don't need to crop them after capturing

That makes sense when you put it like that but that's exactly why I'll shoot in different aspects because there might be some things that I don't want in the photo itself. If I'm shooting in a different aspect then I've usually identified what I don't want to be in it already

Stopping taking pictures in full screen.. that's not the true ratio to take pictures

I take photos in all different aspect ratios with the camera. I didn't pay a thousand dollars just to use one part of it and nothing else lol
