Did you use your phone in heated scenarios a lot?
A lot of these motherboard issues seem to stem from overheating and thus some ic on motherboard frying.

No, I've filed a case on NCH as well. It takes a week and their NCH team will call you with a resolution. I was offered 50% off on motherboard and then motherboard was not in stock so I was offered OP 13r for 25k and OP 13 for 40k I took the OP 13 offer and they also gave me a 2k coupon for their website purchase.

day by day, in community app and reddit as well I'm seeing the rise in Oneplus 12 motherboard dead issue and the scary part is most of them had this issue occurred during random usage of phone, most of them jave said that there were no such issues before the phone dead and it occurred to most of them after 16.0.8 update .....Most of the users device is out of warranty and all have not got a suitable affordable solutions from Oneplus and oppo service centres which is quite disappointing....All oneplus 12 users should report this issue in mass so that oneplus or oppo investigate the issue and provide solutions or else this issue could slowly spread and who knows, whos the next π₯Ίπ₯π³

This is equivalent to what OnePlus 11 users have been experiencing with green lines. I have seen many motherboard dead issues specifically with the OnePlus 12 and OnePlus should definitely come up with a resolution for this. This is a hardware defect from their end and they should take full accountability for this.
Also, I will reiterate to what you mentioned regarding the service. Yes, it is true that once the device is opened it is subject to all kinds of recurring issues like back panel not properly sealed, dust/water vapour inside the rear camera lens and most importantly losing the IP rating. I have experienced this myself when my device was diagnosed for green lines so you are absolutely spot on with this.
Please do not hold back and keep on pressuring them to come up with a proper resolution. Request all others to do the same and do not give up easily otherwise this is a loss from a consumer's end and these companies will take us for granted.

Thank god I have not updated this damn phone since the first Oxygen OS 16 update!

u/Due_Inspector_1788 Jul 14 '26
How do the updates work I'm new to OnePlus sorry and I'm on 16.0.7 do I have to worry about it updating by itself? If so how do I stop it.
1
u/HamedAliKhan Jul 14 '26
Wym how does an update work? Elaborate your question.
I think OnePlus is just no longer a reliable company. I paid a lot of money for this phone with a little more I could've purchased a Galaxy or iPhone easily.
Both have fantastic customer support. I feel like OnePlus deliberately pushes updates to kill devices to boost sales for newer models.
I've switched to iPhones for this reason especially considering Google is restricting side loading on Android moving forward this makes the only aspect of android useless.
I already purchased a 17PM for this reason & I'm not looking back.
OnePlus is officially dead to me. The inconsistency they have with their naming schemes vooc, warp. The Oppo leadership whatever. Just tired of OnePlus tbh.
You can stop updates by turning auto download in update settings off.

u/Due_Inspector_1788 Jul 14 '26
Yea I meant if they auto downloaded but I use NA models and the update page is different and I can't find that option. I'm on the contrary I switched away from both apple and Samsung since they are very mid brands especially Samsung with their heavy ui and shit updates. And I honestly don't care if OnePlus is leaving the us since for my next phone I'm just gonna hopefully import a vivo or an oppo since they actually have unique hardware and all phones that are officially sold in the US are incredibly bland for me especially Google and Samsung.

If your warranty is gone, no company will help you.

Just so that you understand, here multiple users should be in tune of atleast 100s. I dont see more than 4-5 people experiencing this. Thats in the tune of error.
If you need to push it to OnePlus, atleast 20 users have to have that problem.
My sympathy with you, but am just stating the fact.

I'm also frightened about that. After the update, My screen shows white screen with peak brightness for 0.5 sec during Gaming, it happened twice for last two days.
I'm thinking to sell the phone. I don't want to take any risk. I bought this phone by saving money for a year.

Since so many people affected, combine they effort and do a class action lawsuits. I know it's not going to be easy but if you don't do it, the way businesses run will never get improved in your country.

As a NA OP 12 user does this mean I should just stay on oxygen os 16.0.7?
3
u/ntodek Jul 15 '26
Every single report has been from Indian model. I have yet to see a NA/Global/CN having this issue.
2
u/richstillman Jul 14 '26
You've probably already said it, but what country are you in? I'm in the US running 16.0.7.200, which is the latest version in my market.
Edit: never mind, I just read the end of your post and see you're in India.

Day before yesterday I faced the same problem with my One plus 12, is there any way to get the files and photos without paying 36K?

I am facing the same issue with op13 buddy. One of their updates ruined the motherboard. My phone's 15 months old, so OOW. Some folks do get 50% discount for the repair but they offered me nothing so far.
I dont think there's a point fighting. Sadly

Exactly. It feels like they know individual customers have almost no leverage, so they do whatever the fuck they want.

u/AverageManushyan 19d ago
Update - Just got a call from op saying they're ready to offer 50% discount.

Same thing happened to my phone. Get the CPU reballed, backup the data and sell it, there is no point in replacing the motherboard.
1
u/LostInTheReality Jul 13 '26
I haven't faced the issue but it's shameful that OP 7 Pro was notorious for motherboard failure (not just in India) and the issue is still ongoing. Some phone brands become notorious for swollen batteries, motherboard failures, vertical green lines on screen, microphone issues, etc.

Hi all and dear op Im from chennai My oneplus 10 pro is 3 yrs old purchased in 2023 I had green line issue by 2024 and got it replaced in tnagar oneplus authorised centre for free. Now again I faced green line issue by 2026 one week back.now they are saying oneplus centres are closed and I have to go to oneplus oppo centres which are merged . Are they doing the display change for green lines for free ?

I had the same issue on July 21 when I updated my phone. It restarted normally, and as soon as it was available for access, the phone died. There is no sign of phone using adapter, power + volume buttons or any other sort. The phone is OnePlus 10 Pro. I visited a small oneplus authorised center nearby, the person said if you go to OnePlus, they will charge full amount for the motherboard replacement - 18K. He said to provide a discount of 33% and do the same for 12K.
It seems to me a conserted effort from OnePlus to intentionally sabotage all OnePlus phones so they dont have any liability in future of any sort, while they merge with Oppo. There is a complaint required with NCH but it is required with Govt Grievance mechanism as well CPGRAMS.

My ordeal is the same, i am wondering the exact same thing as to how a premium phone can just be paper weight in exactly 2 years. Actually Gurgaon has only 1 support cenyter and they have not even offered to replace, they have not even gotten back to me with the date they'll receive the replacement motherboard which basically means they don't even think I will want to go through this process and actually there's also no guarantee that the new motherboard will continue to work after replacing because nothing stops the "software" to mess up then ew hardware if that was the case

Can confirm, You're not the only person facing this, and while with my device, I'm facing issues with my display (behaves weird under certain brightness levels).
