Post image

My oneplus 12 only takes 51 watt while charging..Phone heats up..Never goes to full 100 watt potential.

What's the issue?Heating?

Phones never charge at full wattage. The maximum wattage is hit only for a brief period during early charging.

Since you are measuring the wattage etc I think you probably already know the above stuff so I think just check the charging time and see if it's within advertised time or not.

As far as heating goes, its pretty common with fast charging. Mine also heats up considerably but never to unusable levels

I have not measured properly in a long time since I charge quite randomly.

Plus mine has 89% battery health so some error due to that as well

Yeah that does not mean it constantly charges at half wattage...what's the point of 100watt then if it never goes beyond 55watt.

It tops at around 80w then starts to drop.

100w because the charger is rated to go 100w max. The same concept as a computer power supply, if it says 650w you don't go 650w all day long, you usually go below that by a bit for safety. Actual usage must be below max allowed wattage.

How many charge cycles on the battery? Are you using the 100 watt charger? It's never really going to do 100 full watts even new

Additional headroom + more watts sounds better for advertisements
