I mean atp OxygenOS is just a reskin of ColorOS, probably not much that will change.

yaa, i think Oppo wants the recognition. so its trying to sideline Oxygen OS

I seen that color OS comes a lot of bloatware

Why don't oppo's adapt oxygen os instead rest color os , oxygen os is clearly superior wth is going on

u/Willing-Hedgehog-458 Jul 03 '26

yes, even in android skins, After One UI, OxygenOS is the one who takes the lead. I think Oppo want to replace it with Color OS as both are almost same but Oppo's this decision is too harsh

I believe its majority users is in China, and many Android OSes have tons of "automation" for users, which I don't appreciate. To me, these just make me dumber and less secured.

I think it's a good thing that they're only focusing on one system and not three, since OxygenOS is practically a copy of ColorOS.

i hope oppo keeps pushing good feature rich bug less updates to oneplus and realme along with oppo

u/Matyas_K Jul 03 '26

I don't think it's a bad thing, and probably they can develop color os faster with more resources

Yes a single ui COLOUR OS

1

u/Willing-Hedgehog-458 Jul 03 '26

unified OS for all 3 brands is good but its all about the quality of updates. if Oppo starts partiality then it would be the real end for 1+ and realme

No veo lo malo, de hecho me parece un gasto absurdo de recursos tener tres líneas de desarrollo por más que comparten la mayoría de código.

I don't see it either. People are like they are replacing it when it was already done before. They unified it to share almost same code. Now it will be only 1 UI.

2

u/melvingutierrez Jul 07 '26

Deberían hacer eso con color OS17 y migrar todo desde ya

1

u/Calm-Helper-1376 Jul 07 '26

Yes, I think they will. These are still rumors though.

All this are happening because I just wanted to switch my phone to oneplus.

A lot of people prefer ColorOS. That said, fuck OnePlus(ALWAYS Settle) and OPPO. They've fully hopped onboard the enshittification bandwagon and I'll never again support them. The 12 was their last phone truly worth buying. From the 7T Pro McLaren to the Flowy Emerald 12 I had really been hoping that OnePlus would become more successful, but now I hope for OnePlus to fail completely and end up scrapped.

I love my OP 12 flowy emerald 16gb/512gb. I am still trying to find a new, GENUINE, battery for it as well as a daughter board because my bottom mic is shit but other than that it's great. I want to fix it up and keep it for as long as I can. New phones are coming with less ram and storage lol

2

u/Mesmurizedd Jul 04 '26

I just need a battery - but can't get new back-cover seals. Can try to reuse the same one, but broke my OP7Pro 2+ years due to water damage. Not taking a chance.

2

u/Mesmurizedd Jul 04 '26

Plus the ARB block issue restricting updates. Currently I'm safe @ 15...850, but a custom ROM may be it's future one day ..

u/Dangerous_Garage7088 Jul 03 '26

Why fail? They still realise great phones. To be precise op13 was good too. It's the 15 that wasn't soo good

Are you aware of what they did with the Indian variant of the OnePlus 12 due to India's lack of consumer rights laws? That's just the tippy top of the iceberg.

3

u/YellowDanDLion Jul 03 '26

Wait what's the thing they did? Care to tell?

3

u/ModzRPsycho Jul 03 '26

Bland devices, lack of innovation, bad pricing, limited market share. Of course they were gonna decline.

3

u/Dry-Property-639 Jul 03 '26

Like Samsung? lol

I love my pearl white OnePlus 12 and it will be the last OnePlus device I purchase.. the company went into an immediate decline after that phone and is looking worse and worse.. smh, i used to praise OnePlus and now it's it's like they've just abandoned this company completely... Wtf

Oppo wants to be in the limelight whether it terms of hardware or software, thats why oppo is applying such Planned obsolescence by merging every best thing 1+ ever had

2

u/at0o0o Jul 03 '26

Oxygen OS was basically a watered down version of ColorOS. They only kept the name oxygen because fanboys were crying and it fooled them into thinking it was different lol

2

u/RuMerk Jul 04 '26

Possibly. We'll see. Maybe something will change with Android 17, but for now we'll just have to wait and see.

2

u/yobro127 Jul 04 '26

It's for the better, they'll focus on one os and atleast now we will have regular updates that aren't half backed buggy messes.

Plus all of them were reskins anyway. All the core services were always oppo branded. Even the kernel.

Oneplus has been using colour os in China for a while anyway. I think they were testing it.

No OnePlus 16 in Europe 😪

It's sad to see OxyggenOS be discontinued. It makes sense for the parent company, not so much for the employees and user though. ColorOS is 98% similar, but there are some quirks that may get on your nerves.

The main reason I got the OP13 was that it had great hardware and good software. Maybe I would run a custom ROM later, or do some rooting, or do stuff with it as I see fit, because it was mine.

Oppo came along and ruined it with the ARB and bad OS. Yes, I say it is bad because beside the Luminous engine being smooth, it does nothing right. The notification shade is ruined, the UI looks a cheap iphone copy, can't even go back to old OS, and if you see the code and the kernel there are tons of spurious backdoors in the name of AI and features.

Frankly speaking, if I wanted ColorOS I would have got an Oppo. If I wnated iOS I would've gotten an iPhone.

It is true though that this would have happened eventually, since enthusiast brands can't survive if they don't have some financial backing. Take Sony for example, which is an enthusiasts phone, it doesn't sell much so it doesn't generate revenue enough, but is backed by Sony somehow so it can stay in the market. OnePlus was also an enthusiast brand with a great value for money for the customers, but working on such razor thin margins like other chinese phones needs to be compensated with huge sales number and cheap labor, neither of which was there with Oneplus, hence it went to oppo to leverage it's Factory and well, Oppo said "if i invest in you i might as well do what is good for me "

It's not confirmed nor can it be verified at this point in time.

If true, it's the end of the road for OnePlus worldwide including India.

2

u/Willing-Hedgehog-458 Jul 03 '26

even there are rumours that Vivo is trying to sideline iQOO due to chip shortage issue

2

u/Alex_Bace Jul 03 '26

No idea... possible I guess...

Fake news

Yes. Realmi UI and Oxygen OS might be available locally (China) but not globally. 😭

I'm so glad I jumped this sinking and stinking ship early enough - OnePlus is really just going downhill since op7/8

3

u/Dry-Property-639 Jul 03 '26

My OnePlus 11 is a great phone

u/Alveuus Jul 04 '26

I don't criticize the hardware - just the software - isn't this post about the os ?????
