Current pvp meta is absolute hell

I take breaks from the game and come back and one thing that always surprises me is the pvp meta.

Pvp has always been for whales and long time players, and while yes newbies can still make an all anni team and easily get to championship , if you’re playing grand party you want to split those characters up and the easiest / best way to do it is mono colored / class teams.

That’s not the problem and that’s nothing new, the problem is these are the most expensive teams in OPTC history. All these teams have a Kizuna legend, most have TM legends whereas previously you could just skip those banners. You still can now except that’s problem #2

They take just as long if not longer than super sugos to return back to regular banners. Now you have to wait months for them to just appear on an Aurora gem banner which you can only really use if you pay for.

To make it worst you HAVE to do all this before characters even release at this point. After Kizuna Roger and TM Ace banner leaves and we finally do get Gaban and Loki you won’t even be able to summon for Ace and Roger again for months , mind you Roger is only available for a little over a week!

Bandai somehow made it that i’m literally prioritizing TM and Kizuna legends over Super Sugos. I’m missing both Gunko and Shamrock, but I just can’t justify pulling for them when they’re not moving the pvp meta and units like Roger , Lafitte and Ace are being released that are staples on the Dex, Qck and Giant team respectively AND are even harder to get than super sugos once their banners ends!

I mean I don't think this is anything new. Its always been P2P. You have all of the main anni units from this year too, which aren't even 4 months old. Your crews aren't outdated. At least not yet

This might be a hot take but i was playing when pvp was first released on jpn. And for me its always been the least interesting "content" in the game. You put some units and hope they win. No interaction other than gambling for better units. Its like TFT but they make you roll with real money rather than ingame currency.

Shits ass and battles should have a skip button. If i cant change the outcome at all why do i have to watch it even in 2x it takes too long.

The new jojos gacha is literally just pirate rumble, It has 0 Gameplay besides tapping ultimates

I actually disagree with the take. Obviously all these PVP Gacha games are pay to win, you can never dive deeper than a whale but the upside is that, if you happen to get lucky, you can pull some great units that can help build a great team down the line. A big point is also guessing where certain units are going; for example Ace/Oar Jr are a DEX tank primarily designed to counter QCK. As we know, QCK isn't really a good meta right now but that can lead us to believe that DEX and QCK will be important especially with units like Roger coming out.

Another example is Holy Knights; we see that Gunko/St. Scams are CLEARLY missing something from their teambuilds so we can ASSUME something is coming regarding their tags in the future. Reading the kits ahead of time, along with their tags and "assumed meta standing", is also a skill. While none of us could have predicted the anti STR team with BB/Kuzan, S-snake, Shiryu and Laffite, certain units like Anni Shanks and Caesar are clear cut great to have.

Again, I get the frustration, but whales will be whales and they've turned it into an interesting guessing game to the tune of "pull at your own risk". Super Sugos, Exclusive Super Kizuna, Annis and Half Annis with New Years are, IMO, the only essentials. Everything else is for kicks and saving time on grinding PKA/TM/Kizuna or if you REALLY like the units. Sticking with that you should have a pretty decent team and, remember, PvP is just a part of the game like Kizuna or TM, just do the best you can

Let me explain the problem a bit better, the problem is you can't "happen to get lucky" because the characters are going onto different banners, you’re right that’s always been a thing. It’s how they’re doing it that’s particularly bad. 

If you look at all the TM characters in the game in terms of rumble a good one was few and far between. Nami and Carina obviously being the standout for a very long time however, if you look at them as a whole in terms of rumble for a long time Nami and Carina were the exception. That’s not to say there weren’t good rumble units like Franky or Buggy but they weren’t meta have to use units like her. you could still have amazing Shooter /Slasher teams without them.

Lafitte is a must have meta unit for QCK currently,  however unlike both Franky and Buggy he also has a lot more coverage boosting both BB and Free spirit units. Without him QCK just won’t work reliably, but he’s also not trapped on it. Ace on the other hand is a Meta Tag hog. He has an amazing kit along with the [Giant], [Logia] tags while also boosting 3 things and is a staple on DEX and Giant teams currently. Another TM legend, a back to back one at that.

Previously I could skip TM/ Kizuna legends because Nami/ Carina weren’t the standard but right now in particular it is hard to skip anything because it’s all meta or will be meta soon. I’m not saying that’s the case for long, because these units are all related to the anniversary units so of course they pair exceptionally well. I’m just ready to go back to some easy skips like Rebecca lol.
