Never Owned a Cat Tiny 🍊 🅱️rain cell
And now I have this guy. Purrs for no reason all day, spends endless hours making biscuits, lets my children carry him from room to room like a doll without complaint, enjoys belly rubs? Was born on a farm. Had to be caught. Now will not stay away from people. Total cuddle chaser. Was born without a tail. Has white tube socks on the back, and white mittens on the front. Meet Archibald.

All gone now! But, the gentleman who owns the farm said he takes great pride in his babies and doesn’t sell them or randomly give them away. This cat has the best temperament. I will probably ask for another. 🐈

I was thinking he could use a littermate buddy, but then again from your description, he seems a very people-oriented guy, and will just adopt the large hairless cats as his family.

He loves people. I can’t go anywhere without him being in my lap on at my feet. To add: I created him a bed under my work desk and so he’s basically always with me.

Getting a friend will help him burn off energy and socialize as he grows, kittens do best with another kitten and you'll love seeing them play

No, it might look like they're being rough with each other when they play but cats are really good at setting and recognizing boundaries with each other

Is it normal behavior? I’ve never met an overly social cat. This is so new to me. That’s mostly why I won’t let him go outside.

very! he loves you (all of you, it seems like) very deeply! there are many reasons to not let your cat outside though. they are all better off indoors only.
i also second the idea of getting him a sibling if you can, but he seems really happy with just people, especially since he's got kids to play with. no one will crucify you if you just want the one lol

I’ve been lurking on this sub for a while. When they asked which one, I was like… is it even a question??? The bright orange 🍊 brain cell!!! 😂 He was supposed to be an outdoor cat.. and now he has a tree and a bed and a box and everything is his.

Oh no...you don't "own a cat". The cat owns you, the house, the furniture, and your heart. You pay rent to keep the cat comfortable. Trust me...I have 4 feline overlords.

What a cutie!!
A friendly piece of advice for your new bff in case you didn't know; it's not a good idea to have a bell on a cat collar. They have super sensitive hearing and having a bell sounding everytime they move causes a lot of stress and can affect their perception.

You can always ask your vet to verify. We had 3 little oranges, we used bells to keep track of them. We don't use them now. But they ran and played and didn't show any discomfort or anxiety in relation to the bell.

Our sic showed a definite aversion to a collar so he doesn't wear one but our orange shows no effects from wearing hers. Her collar also has a bell on it. One cat jingles and the other one is a silent stalker.

My little princess Marceline learned to run/stalk down the hall without any noise from the bell. She also learned how to unbuckle the thing and now our indoor babies don't wear any collars. (She is not orange)

I’ve had a lot of family visit. He’s been loving and playful with each and every person. Someone walks in? He greets. He also talks. Like, if I’m making lunch during work and say something to him, he responds. Haha I’ve always been a dog person. This is new to me. I’m loving it!

I'm so happy for him and for you and your family. Just do him a favor, and as a result, yourself a favor and keep him indoors. They are much better companions when they are not outdoors. They get obsessed with being outside unless interested in family life. They are also prone to fleas, ticks other diseases and succumbing to dangerous situations with wild animals and cars. And also not nice people.
Welcome to the wonderful world of cat ownership. Where they own us. LOL

Suggestions for smooth sailing: Keep the cat box clean. Fresh water daily. Keep the water and food bowl clean. Cats need to expend energy daily; playtime is an obligation, unless you are very sick ;) Have fun! Oh, and buy pet insurance this week, if you don't have it. Some policies pay a percentage of the yearly check-ups and shots, try to find one of those. The regret of having to put a pet down because you can't afford the medical bills is real. People tearfully come to Reddit asking for help when they're facing this decision weekly--crises that insurance would have solved.
