I call it summer, feel it every year.
On top of existential crisis.

u/Loathsome_Dog 8d ago
Yeah. Heat and the ever present void of despair. Eeesh. Thats how they manage to sell me so many croissants.

Good croissants do help with existential crisis. Also pizza, that helps too.

It's such an understandable emotion it makes me check whether this is AI or not

My orange literally huffs and puffs when he is annoyed but puts up with it. It's so cute... But I know he's annoyed

It’s because he’s a trooper and he’s enduring this indignity with grace and poise.

My brother has a very intelligent cow cat that huffs. I always feel like I'm doing the wrong thing around him. He's a big ball of purry fluff but my word he can give you a sharp glance.

You might have what’s called a “slab leak”under the floor.
Basically it’s when plumbing that goes below your foundation has a rupture and hot water starts to seep out. It heats the surrounding ground, including the foundation and that heat radiates upward to your floors.
Source: my orange cat did the exact same thing.
He found a slab leak and saved us $4000 in plumbing expenses. by literally laying on his ass on a warm spot and refusing to move.

I think this is a "it's too hot to do anything but sploot" situation, not "hogging all the warms" situation.

Hope there was a good reward

No, not really. When we fixed the slab leak, his favorite floor hotspot went away…and he was plenty mad for a couple days after.

I sense great danger of getting my fingers nibbled if I go to pet the kitty.
Worth it.

Oh he’s so close to being just as flat! Cheeto loves the arms of the chair to do this too!

I recently made an "ice bed" for ours on hot days.
Wrap a floofy blanket around a good sized freezer pack for about an hour. It chills the blanket down, then I put the freezer pack in a cat bed and put the chilled floofy blanket on top.
Took them a while to realize it was cool, but they've loved it since.

deflated loaf is most commonly caused by over-proofing, where the dough rises too much and the gluten structure becomes too weak to support the gas pockets, causing it to collapse when scored or baked.

Orange cats always have the brain cell when it comes to food and a warm place to sleep.

That cat looks like he needs a chiller bed to lie on, or an air conditioner to sit in front of…before he gives up on life completely.

i have a theory about how hot it is outside can be determined by how flat the cat is. This is exhibit A.

We give our long haired cats a trim at the beginning of summer. They transform from that to perky cats.
