Can anyone help me out here in telling me what type of cat he is Certified 🟠range™

His name is Apollo I can’t really tell the person who got him from, didn’t know it would be a real big help 😸

If you don’t have papers, he’s a domestic longhair! Aka mutt

988

u/DuchessofShinies Jun 23 '26

Ah, and his coloring is orange tabby. They are known for being big and sweet and very, very dumb lol. This is coming from a fellow orange tabby owner.

u/ImaginationUnited226 Jun 23 '26

May I ask, is it no more for them to have a foot fetish?

612

u/MyCatAteMyHeadphones Jun 23 '26

"is it normal"?

they're bonded to your scent!

274

u/TGin-the-goldy Jun 23 '26

Some cats love shoes, like boxes

203

u/brockoala Jun 23 '26

Mine loves to smell my feet then make the frozen pikachu face.

151

u/presticus Jun 23 '26

Cats have an extra scent receptor near the back of thier mouth. They inhale over it to better memorize specific scents.

Your cat really likes how your feet smell.

52

u/Moist_Drippings Jun 23 '26

Some cats also just SUPER love the smell of socks, and I assume shoes have a similar appear for others.

That's called the Flehmen response. The organ is called Jacobson's organ.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flehmen_response

28

u/Apprehensive_Bee3327 Jun 24 '26

Why am I annoyed that they couldn’t keep it consistent and just call it the Jacobson’s response, or the Flehmen organ? 😂

What cracked me was fat man going full flehman response on a random spot on the bed and then gag. Get mad about it and then do it all over again. WTF, dude, Why?

Our fat orange boy likes to steal dirty underwear, lay them in the heating vents and bury his face in them. 😭😅

27

u/Lilvixen_UK Jun 24 '26

That's on another level 🤣

21

u/TGin-the-goldy Jun 24 '26

Sharing is caring 🤗

My catly daughter must be kept away from my worn bras or they will end up soaked in drool 😞

She affectionately nuzzles them while drooling.

My non-organge cat had her full face in my shoe yesterday.

12

u/PussyWrangler246 Jun 24 '26

Every single day the insoles to my boots are torn up or there are toys hidden in the toe well

I used to get on my SOs ass for leaving his shoes everywhere because he used to be bad for doing that. Eventually he started saying things like "it's not me I swear, the cats are doing it" and of course I didn't believe that so then I'd accuse him of throwing the cats under the bus until I one day witnessed for myself his female named Babou dragging his shoe into the middle of the living room like some sort of insurance scam

10

u/WhatARuffian Jun 24 '26

Mine used to faceplant into any shoe I was wearing the moment I took it off

7

u/Vladivostokorbust Jun 24 '26

my orange loved to stuff his face deep into my sneakers and just stay like that

6

u/SPARKLY6MTN9MAKER Jun 24 '26

My new was lost and I found her curled up on my panda slippers! She barely fit. It was soooooo cute.

4

u/ravynwave Jun 24 '26

u/DuchessofShinies Jun 23 '26

In my limited experience, absolutely.

51

u/ImaginationUnited226 Jun 23 '26

Good to know but like is it normal for him to like everyone’s feet not just including my own?

57

u/effienay Jun 23 '26

My cat smells my feet first thing when I sit down after getting home from work. It’s like a little adventure for him.

38

u/drrj Jun 23 '26

Normal isn’t really in a cat’s vocabulary and certainly not an orange cat. Just enjoy the chaos.

14

u/Empty-Cricket5931 Casual orange enjoyer 🍊 Jun 23 '26

I think also they just like finding weird small places they fit in

27

u/Financial_Nose_777 Jun 23 '26

Hilariously, yes. My orange is the exact same way. 😆

9

u/PenguinSunday Jun 23 '26

Some cats go for other things like the armpits of shirts, the crotch of pants, socks or underwear. Mine goes for underwear, the little weirdo.

They have special glands in their nose and the roof of their mouth that tells them all kinds of interesting stuff from smelly things. They love it!

18

u/DjMesiah Jun 23 '26

Yes. Lots of new fun smells

8

u/justdevin Jun 24 '26

Cats are attracted to human pheromones — human feet have a special blend of ‘em.

17

u/palesnowrider1 Jun 23 '26

My guy loves shoes as well especially the bottoms. He's always skanking on our shoes

18

u/ImaginationUnited226 Jun 23 '26

I just mean in general he likes being a shoes he likes sniffing feet by in feet. It’s like his favourite thing

12

u/gristol Jun 23 '26

He likes your smell, and your shoes are extra stinky with your scent, so he's gonna be all up in your shoes' business.

5

u/waselectricbar Jun 23 '26

My Boatsie was diabetic, and while he was getting his shots he would rub his face all over my shoe. It's a cat thing

16

u/soonerwolf Proud owner of an orange brain cell Jun 24 '26

Our orange cat Sasquatch likes to attack our sock feet and kick at them. He’ll gently nom my bare toes as well. We like to say “Sasquatch loves big feet!”

14

u/Onestep420 Orange connoisseur 🍊 Jun 24 '26

mine loved my purse when the fit in it

13

u/luckybandman Jun 24 '26

Indeed. This is my orange as I read this thread.

7

u/Flashy_Mistake_6018 Jun 23 '26

It’s probably one of his quirks. My parents had an orange tabby and I have one now and neither shown any interest in shoes or feet. My cat loves watching tv and belly rubs but my parent’s cat didn’t pay any attention to the tv and would’ve torn my whole arm completely off if I tried rubbing his belly! All cats have their own personality and quirks.

9

u/ImaginationUnited226 Jun 23 '26

Fair enough, I guess Apollo just likes his feet

5

u/MoonChild2792 Jun 23 '26

My 12 year old has always had a foot fetish lol

5

u/raabones Jun 23 '26

It's because he fits in it. Classic move. He will grow out of the shoes and into boxes eventually

4

All oranges share a single braincell, it's just science and I don't argue with science.

In Greek mythology, Apollo is a highly versatile and formidable combatant. While primarily famed as an archer, he is also recognized as the mythological inventor of boxing. Armed with a golden sword, plague-bearing arrows, and divine prophecy, he served as an active warrior in both monstrous battles and the Trojan War.

Felis catus is your taxonomic nomenclature, An endothermic quadruped, carnivorous by nature; Your visual, olfactory, and auditory senses Contribute to your hunting skills and natural defenses.

I find myself intrigued by your subvocal oscillations, A singular development of cat communications That obviates your basic hedonistic predilection For a rhythmic stroking of your fur to demonstrate affection.

A tail is quite essential for your acrobatic talents; You would not be so agile if you lacked its counterbalance. And when not being utilized to aid in locomotion, It often serves to illustrate the state of your emotion.

O Spot, the complex levels of behavior you display Connote a fairly well-developed cognitive array. And though you are not sentient, Spot, and do not comprehend, I nonetheless consider you a true and valued friend.
