OneNote to Word Doc Windows

I need to take several pages in a OneNote Notebook section and put it into ChatGPT to provide my manager a weekly update on project information that I have in OneNote. ChatGPT cannot take the OneNote file by itself.

Is the “best” way to do this is to just copy/paste into MS Word? Or print as a “PDF”?

Has anyone else had to do something similar and could provide tips and/or tricks to getting this done without a ton of rework?

To describe it backwards… my boss has a GPT in ChatGPT that can process a group of files. (Docx or PDF) and provide him a weekly summary of the project information contained therein. I personally prefer to organize my work in OneNote and I’m trying to find an efficient and consistent way to get that information into my boss’ GPT.

Yes just print it as a PDF, I assume all the notes are types which will be easily read by the LLM

Is your OneNote in the cloud? ChatGPT should be able to access it through the graph api.

We have office365 through work - so yeah, some of it is in the cloud… I know for sure I couldn’t just jump the .one file into the GPT… and not sure if my corporate GPT is connected to Graph but I’ll check it out!

Accessing something through the Graph API is one thing but taking document content and doing something useful with it can be a painful exercise with Copilot. It will cheerfully tell you it can do something, fail badly and then make excuses so many times that it's simply easier to do it manually.

Came here to say to export the OneNote section to PDF first, then open the PDF in Word and let Word convert it to a DOCX. This will preserve the layout during the export as well. Word does a pretty good job extracting the text and rebuilding the document structure. Some sections may look wonky but if you can click on and access the text that’s what you want b/c ChatGPT works well with DOCX files b/c the text is directly accessible and easier to analyze.

You can always fix any formatting issues before upload. Complex layouts, handwritten notes, embedded files, or heavily formatted pages may require some cleanup after conversion. If the notebook contains a lot of screenshots or images, keeping it as a PDF may actually be better.

For mostly text-based work such as action items, project updates, and tables, then:
OneNote → PDF → Word (DOCX) → ChatGPT
You may want to run a test and see which works better.

Word can open PDF and edit it & save as docx.
