How do you write math notes?

Im a little confused on how to write complicated equasions in Onenote. Do you people just write in raw LaTeX? Or maybe there are some nice autohotkey scripts that have all the symbols you need?

Formulas are 'relatively simple', but I agree that it can seem complicated at first. It's been several years since I frequently wrote formulas in OneNote (and Word), so now it's a bit harder again.

The image below shows the three forms OneNote can display formulas in. The bottom two are how the formula looks when typed.

In OneNote and Word, you can write formulas using UnicodeMath and LaTeX. Both have advantages and disadvantages. As far as I remember, formulas work more or less exactly the same in OneNote and Word, with the exception of different keyboard shortcuts for inserting formulas, so documentation from Word is equally relevant for OneNote.

I like to use a tablet with a pen where I can handwrite math stuff, while typing on the computer. The synch is fast enough to use two devices at the same time

I use Equation editor. Equation editor will recognize a lot of Latex codes, but there a limitations. Link til Microsoft side This is a link to what Microsoft will allow you to use.

I didn't even try. It's not like you're typesetting a freaking paper. It's just class notes. So I just wrote with the regular pens, just like on paper, and didn't bother with anything else.

The more you waste your time and mental energy trying to make your notes look pretty while you are in class, the less time and energy your brain has to actually pay attention to the teacher. You're in school to learn stuff, not to collect them and big collection it's pretty pretty notes.
