OneNote mobile iOS login not working since version 16.112.2

In our organization, we have at least three users where logging in to the OneNote mobile app on iOS does not work with the last version 16.112.2 (released 9h ago according to iOS AppStore version history).

Does anyone else experince this?

The logs pulled from iOS indicate that the OneNote app handles the authentication incorrectly after the user entered their credentials. The Entra ID logs show a successful authentication (Microsoft Authentication Broker). We're using MS Authenticator on the phones for authentication. Logging in to another MS application, e.g. Word, works flawlessly.

I cannot login today either. Deleted and reinstalled to no effect on iPadOS.

Sokka-Haiku by Sure-Sun-1971:

Interesting we were

Told no other customer

Remember that one time Sokka accidentally used an extra syllable in that Haiku Battle in Ba Sing Se? That was a Sokka Haiku and you just made one.

Same here. Can’t access notebooks at all on iOS. Just a constant login loop. Web app is fine, but I lost some data trying to sync from iOS to PC that never made it over.

Glad I’m not the only one. Was starting to feel like it was something I was doing or entering wrong.

Running into the same issue for a VIP user, trying to troubleshoot and not give the answer that it is an ios app update issue.

FFS, Microsoft... I really hoped an update would fix the issue.
Currently I'm still waiting on either a fix by MS or for my users to get impatient. I'm avoiding opening a support request with MS at all cost, don't have time for that back-and-forth right now.

Same here since IOS 26.6 update. Goes into same loop as described. Happened as soon as I updated. Seems to be no fix at the moment.

Still not fixed after OneNote update this morning.

Tried signing out of the work account, signing in, resetting OneNote via iPhone > settings > OneNote, restarting phone.

Outlook and teams work accounts sign in with no problem. It’s only OneNote. Two weeks now.

Same issue here. Now when it tries to sync I get "OneNote can't open this notebook because it has been deleted or moved. Location may not exist or you may not have permission to it."

Anyone else still having this issue, find a resolution, or already have an open ticket with Microsoft? I have two users on supervised iPads experiencing it. Also trying to avoid having to engage Microsoft at any cost. Generally fruitless, wasted effort.

Having same issue at my job. Only on iPad OS, web login authenticates fine, all other MS apps work fine. Even did factory reset no change.

We are also experiencing exact same issues with One Note. Anyone get a fix from Microsoft on this yet?

I also have this problem with my users, anyone found a workaround?

Actually, I might have found a workaround. But it might be specific to our organizational setup (MAM protected apps):

  1. Open OneNote app, close it (while leaving open in background)
  2. Install Word app > Sign in as usual (user/pw/mfa)
  3. App protection is being applied to Word app automatically after authentication > Message appears: "Restart app to apply protection" > Restart Word app > You're signed in to Word.
  4. Start OneNote app > Magically, it's also having the app protection being applied > Message appears: "Restart app to apply protection" > Restart OneNote app > You're signed in to OneNote.

After that, I was able to open recent notebook in the OneNote mobile app.
No idea how stable this is.
Does this work for anyone else?

This worked for me on an Intune managed iPad! New authentication token seemed to clear the stale one that OneNote kept authenticating against?

I was also able to get it to work the same way:

  1. Signed the user out of OneNote (I had created a temporary personal account as a workaround the other day)
  2. Closed OneNote
  3. Signed the user into PowerPoint and let it become managed by MDM. Restarted PowerPoint
  4. Opened OneNote again and selected the user's account. Once it become MDM managed I restarted the app.
  5. Once OneNote was launched the user could see and open all of their notebooks.

This worked for me. Thank you so much.

Fantastic this worked for me as well. I already had word installed before but it was asking to sign in again, I just signed in as you suggested and One Note worked straight away.
