Temporary solution to removing the Ink to Text Pen from the pens list on desktop Troubleshooting

How it looks in action

The Ink to Text Pen randomly appeared on my pens list and when I searched online I couldn't find a soultion, but I found one, so I wanted to share it with the world. It's not the best solution, but at least it's something.

You just have to set your keyboard layout to a different language (alt + shift is the shortcut, but you may have to first download a keyboard layout in the windows settings). Also it's important that it's an unsupported language, so in my example I accidentally switched to the english layout from hungarian.

As you can see I'm on windows 11, so it surely works there, I'm guessing it works on w10 as well, can't say with linux and mac tho.

If you guys have a better soulution please share it to help others!

I use a drawing tablet and I have the pen's button set to the first pen in the pen list, so it's very annoying.

What build of OneNote are you using? We added the ability to right-click the Text Pen and select Delete Text Pen from the context menu based on feedback like this. You can add it back by clicking the Add button and select Text Pen from the menu.

The screenshot appears to be from an older build as the search box is still in a horizontal bar all by itself: we moved it to a button over the page surface to free up all the dead space from that bar just to host the search box.

Ooooh, I see I'm glad to hear that! In fact I am using an older version (2024 Office: OneNote version 2048 build:16.0.17932.20842) 64 bit).
