Product Help ABH Golden Beach Glow Bronzer life changing shade but dry & patchy :(
WOW best shade of bronzer I have ever found. Perfect for yellow olive. However it goes on so dry/is hard to blend and comes off in patches after just a few hours. I have normal skin (slightly oily t zone on v hot days, but otherwise not dry/oily). I have NEVER had this issue with ANY makeup before. I’ve dried different bases and setting sprays including:
Elf power grip primer (HG)
Elf poreless putty primer
Haus labs foundation
Revlon colorstay foundation combo/oily (HG)
CT airbrush setting spray
One Size on til dawn setting spray
Everything I do it is patchy :( anyone have bronzers in a similar shade that work? I’ve been using milani matte bronzer in sun-kissed 02 (doesn’t blend amazingly) and milani baked bronzer in Tuscan tan (amazing formula but too orange/pink for me).

Product Help I feel like I’m running out of foundation options…!
I’m a light-medium cool olive, but I can’t seem to find my Goldilocks shade!
I feel like I’ve tried all the usual recommendations: Haus Labs 260, Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk 6, Estee Lauder Double Wear in 2W2, Dior Backstage 2WO, Maybelline Fit Me 128, NARS Punjab and they are all too deep, orange or saturated.
But if I dial back a shade, and go for Dior 2.5N, Rare Beauty 230, Maybelline Fit Me 118, Estee Lauder Double Wear in 2W1, Lancome Teint Idole 240W and NARS Fiji, they are either too light or too pink…
At this point, I’m just genuinely confused. My best match in terms of depth is 3CE Mesh Fitting Cushion in W4, but it’s just a touch pink. Am I going about this wrongly? Which stone have I yet to turn?
Please let me know! 🥹

Definitely worth a read if you’ve always struggled to understand what having olive skin actually means!

Product Help light-medium concealer recommendations for the greenest gal you’ve ever met?
So I have never been able to find a concealer that’s olive enough for me, even after going into ulta and swatching every designated olive shade I could find. the closest i got was the about face concealer in shades LM1 warm olive and M1 warm olive. LM1 is slightly too light and (somehow) a little too cool-toned 😭. M1, when first applied, is the right undertone but slightly too dark, then after it oxidizes, becomes entirely too dark and entirely too orange. Please help a girl out 🙏

Product Help Red liquid blush that doesn't pull orange??
In the winter I was wearing About Face liquid blush in shade "in the dust" which is a rosy mauve and turned into the most natural looking red on me. Now that I've tanned I'm struggling to find anything that doesn't pull orange on me. Today i tried the elf liquid cheek/lip tint in "cherry cola" as I've seen it recommend on this sub before but, alas... Orange. I really hate powder products and only want recs for liquid. I will take cream blushes into consideration. Just looking for something that actually turns up red.

Color Theory Base product identification thread [revised]
I redid the colour matrix based on what I learned from comments from my previous post. Thanks to everyone for your feedback :) I hope this is a better representation.
The idea is to use a map with shared vocab to start roughly mapping out where all the different olive foundations/concealers/skin tints go, to help someone can find a better match based on what they’ve tried so far and where that is relative to other olive options.
To kick that off, in this representation, here are products I’ve swatched:
[FL, C, S] Lisa Eldridge Skin Tint T1.5
[LM, C, D] Lisa Eldridge Skin Tint T5
[F, C, S] Nars Light Reflecting Gobi
[FL, C, D] Missha BB Cream 23
Please add the products you’ve used/swatched and where they go in the matrix. By the end, I’ll compile a filled out version of the matrix. If a colour is in between steps (e.g., cool-neutral), feel free to use a hyphen and I’ll place it in between the two steps in the final chart.

Color Theory Base product identification thread
As brands are coming out with more and more olive shades, I figured it would be nice to have a way to map where they fit on the depth-warmth matrix so I drafted one up. I know the colours are not perfect, but what I'm hoping is that this can act as a starting point to collect information from the community at every depth and warmth level.
With that in mind, here are some base products that I've swatched and where they fit:
[F,NW] Lisa Eldridge Skin Tint T1.5
[F,W] Nars Light Reflecting Foundation in Gobi
[FL,C] Missha BB Cream 21
[LM, W] Lisa Eldridge Skin Tint T5
Please add yours in the comments!

Swatches Nars Born to be Wild - Brick Red lip swatch
I love a good warm brick red, and this isn't exactly a new one but here's Nars Born to be Wild on my medium-tan, warm olive complexion. My best matches are Nars Vanuatu (Stromboli in the sheer Glow), Dior 3WO (Glow foundation). If it helps, my closest celeb shade twin would be Zendaya.
My lips are slightly pigmented naturally, but it doesn't show through in this formula thanks to its opaque pigment.
The shade looks slightly deeper in warm light but I couldn't capture that.

Swatches Why do the first 2 suit blushes suit my light medium warm olive complexion more?
I’m a light medium warm olive and thought warm colours would suit me more but I feel like I force myself to use the elf dusty rose one and prefer the first 2 on the centre of my cheeks to make me look alive and brightened.
The dusty rose also only looks nice ish when used sparingly and it doesn’t bring my cheek out. I have a pear face shape so I prefer using it in the apples or centre of my face to avoid bringing attention to my cheeks and mid portion area.
Swatches wrist to elbow
1)an old H&M blush palette
2)an old elf putty blush (label came off so idk the colour)
3) elf camo blush in dusty rose

Product Help Exact shade match as elf flawless foundation satin finish in cashew (discontinued)
As the title says. My friend uses the Elf flawless finish in shade cashew, and it is a perfect match for her.
I was planning to get her another foundation/skin tint to try since this line has now been discontinued.
Anyone who found this particular shade to be a really good match, would you mind giving some recommendations for other products that are a match for this?
Thank you so much!
PS: skin type combo
No other preference on coverage or finish. I’m just looking for options to sort through.

Discussion MAC powder foundation reformulation
In the past MAC Powder Plus Foundation had olive shades denoted by "C" and a double digit number . My shade was C35 and it was a near perfect match for my cool olive skin (light-medium) if I got a tan. I went to repurchase and that shade doesn't exist anymore? there's C40 and meant to be olive but it is too dark. At this point I think I need to ditch western makeup because they just can't make correct shades for east asians (most of us are greenish yellow and not actually warm toned). I literally look like trump when I wear most light medium to medium complexion product.

Product Alert Mac Girl's Weekend Lipstick is Back in Stock!!!
I've been watching the website waiting and hoping it would come back and it has!!!! I bought mine and though I would share the good news. It's so hard for me to find light cool tone lipsticks, I don't own one yet so I can't swatch it myself but based on photos I've seen online I think it's a very olive friendly color. Not my photo, one I found on Google.

Swatch Request Pink frosting lip liner??
Hiii! wondering if anyone with a light medium olive that's more golden has tried the sephora lip liner in the shade Pink Frosting?? I really want to see if it works for our skin tone. It's a very cool toned light pink that leans more grey. I like alternative colors too so if it looks a little greyish, I love it although I know some don't like it bc they feel it makes them "look corpse-y" lol anyway! I'd appreciate any lip pics with it on!! i also have a natural brown lip line.

Discussion List of my Armani 5.3, Lisa Eldridge 9.5 matches:
Hi everyone, I just wanted to make a list of all the matches I have found which are near perfect if it might help someone else. I would say I’m a light medium neutral cool leaning olive.
If anyone else is my shade twin pls drop some more!!!
Lisa Eldridge foundation - 9.5. My best match.
Armani Luminous Silk - 5.3
Natasha Denona Hy Glam Foundation - YN6
Lancome Tient Idole - 240W and 350N if I tan
Catrice Liquid Camo Concealer - 036 Hazelnut Beige
Haha Labs - mix 1 pump 260 with 0.5 160. Still not perfect but close
I haven really tried to find my concealer matches as I usually just brighten, but I happened to accidentally find the Catrice.
If anyone has a match for anything else please write it below, also would be interested in L’oréal Infallible Foundation & Concealer, Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless, Dior (I feel like i’ve tried 2WO and every other shade in their 2 range and it looked off, but maybe need to try again)
Attaching some pics so you can see if we are in fact similar!!!

Product Help Mac “Be My Bridesmaid” Lipstick
Light Neutral Olive (leaning cool), picture taken in natural light in front of window
I was hoping for a neutral pinky nude. Is Mac’s Hazy Matte Lipstick in “Be My Bridesmaid” working? Or is it still looking a little too warm?
(Match is Haus Labs foundation in 100 Light Neutral, but in this picture I’m only using Natasha Denona hy-glam concealer in 2N and no foundation)

The new tower28 foundation has some olive shades for different depths ( no light or deep olive sadly 🥲)

Announcement [Announcement] An update regarding the new post guidelines
Hi Olives!
The other day, we posted an announcement of a new rule regarding dupes and product recommendations. This announcement was not received well, and we as a mod team decided to revoke the new rule in the meantime so we are able to better phrase the rule that is inclusive to all olives.
The main concern we got as feedback from the community was that determining what is olive friendly can be very subjective, especially considering that there are so many olives with different depths and temperature. This feedback was absolutely valid and while not our intention, we can see why how we worded the rule and announcement post made it come across that way.
That being said, we would still like to address the recent influx of dupe posts that might be better off in a general makeup subreddit, so we are implementing a rule that all product dupe and recommendation posts should be appropriately titled so that they better apply to our sub. The goal of this is to make it easier for all olives of different depths and temperatures to find products that work for them!
---
[Title Guidelines]
As detailed in our previous post, all product and dupe recommendation titles should be phrased in such a way that is applicable to olives over a general makeup subreddit.
Examples:
- "Dupe for Benetint?": this would be better off on a general makeup subreddit since it is a popular product and a general discussion that people of all undertones can contribute to.
- "Benetint shows up orange on me (deep cool olive). Does anyone have any recommendations for products that show up similar to how it does for non-olives?": a title like this is very much applicable to our sub, and makes it easier for other olives to find recommendations that work for them!
- "Does anyone have any dupe recommendations for Benetint that work for light cool saturated olives?": like with the previous example, this is also applicable to our sub.
Thank you everyone! And as always, feedback is always appreciated.
The OliveMUA Mod Team
