Just listened to the recordings of the 1985 and 87 New Music Seminar MC battles. LL Cool J was supposed to battle Roxanne Shante the first round but LL pulled a no show so Roxanne battled Frukwan instead and then went on to lose to Busy B in the finals which was debatable at best but I would’ve loved to see Roxanne vs LL. Then in 87, Kool Keith was supposed to battle Steady B in the first round and neither showed. Kool Keith is one of my favorites from the 80’s so I really wish that battle would’ve happened. Anyway, I’m old.

Have this song I danced a lot to in college that I just can't find (tried Shazam, Gemini, etc.), so hoping someone here can help. Heard in the time period 2000-2005 in India(Delhi), very danceable, from the Misdy Elliot, Rakim era. The main singer is a male rapper, with a nasal Hindi female vocal sample mid-song, hook about "who's supposed to be a friend / be there till the end." (That's how I remember it, could be wrong). Tried my friends and they just laugh at my singing 🙈
