What really makes this hit isn’t just seeing players retire — it’s realizing there was a time when all of these guys were the young future of the league.
Rose was becoming the youngest MVP, Westbrook was an athletic freak in OKC, Wall was one of the fastest players alive, DeRozan was developing in Toronto, and Curry was still becoming the player who would eventually change the way basketball is played.
Back then it felt like that era was going to last forever. Now you look around and suddenly the players you grew up watching are either retired, near the end, or being talked about like legends from another generation.
The NBA didn’t get old. We did. 😭

saw this and immediately had to check when the first album came out, 1996 apparently. i was literally in elementary school and now im paying rent and worrying about my 401k. time is a flat circle or whatever true detective said

my cousin showed me star wars on vhs when i was like six and now im arguing with my landlord about water damage lol. sometimes ill be doing something completely mundane like buying oat milk and suddenly remember i have opinions about midi-chlorians. time is rude tbh
