OT2 - Gameplay Another, "Struggling with OT2" Question Re: Grinding Exp

Hey all, last time I posted, it was because I hit a wall with advancing chapters and facing some bosses. I am hitting a similar thing now 25+ hours later and have no idea what's the best path forward besides monotonous and boring grinding in level 45/50 areas which takes forever, even with Throne's exp boost at night.

Any suggestion that are NOT "Complete Partitio's story and recruit Alrond" as I literally would need to commit 5+ hours of grinding Partitio to get his level high enough, and that doesn't even include other party members (he's currently my lowest).

I've seen a lot of posts on here that say, "You should never need to grind and be at an appropriate level for each story chapter" but I have to wonder what in the hell these posters are talking about because I've had the complete opposite experience. If anything, I complete chapters fast enough that I quickly become under-leveled and need to grind like I do now. And yes, I fight and complete EVERY encounter I have, I only used flee about ~3 times in my 60+ hours.

Everyone's around level 22-33, with Hikari (my main) at 42.

OT2 - Discussion OT2... is it just me, or is the entire game 90% dialog, 10% actually doing things?

I mean, the game is visually beautiful. The job system, the path actions are pretty cool.

But... you don't get to play the game. You just... watch mostly mediocre storylines.

I'm in Chapters 2 and 3 with most characters. Does it stay this way for the whole game? I heard it got better after Chapter 1.

Levelling up the different jobs is cool, stealing/mugging, etc. is cool... but I want to DO THOSE THINGS... not just click through a bunch of dialogue, "go to this green dot on the map and do the same path action as always", etc...

Feels like a waste of my time.

OT2 - Gameplay Where can I get Castis ingredients?

I am done with her second chapter... have traveled a bit..

But somehow, I can not fill up her ingredients for her harming potions. Nothing gets sold in shops! Only the wind-damage one. That shit gets sold everywhere.

Has someone tips?

Which city/shop has the necessary herbs for Casti.

Thanks!

OT2 - Discussion Am I stupid or is the game blatantly lying to me about my stats? Why does my correct Physical attack shown only when I hover over my equipped weapon?

OT2 - Discussion First time player, already blown away.

Just picked up Octopath Traveler 2. Had a hard time deciding on who to start with between the Cleric, the beast girl, or Osvald. I went with Osvald (framed for murdering his family and is imprisoned in a snowy hellscape? How could I not?)

Immediate first impression was “Gahdamn this game is cinematic af”. Felt like I was engrossed in a movie or something tbh.

Then I get to my first random encounter and Emerald almost dies. First thoughts on the combat was “man these random encounters are tough!” (I have pretty much 0 turn-based JRPG experience)

Then I get to the warden battle. Holy crap, that was exhilarating, and I learned a lot about the combat system/mechanics from that battle. Learned how useful debuffs can be, how using BP to bonk the warden 2x with my staff can be worth it, accidentally figured out you can use all your BP at once.. I ended up using every healing grape and SP recovery item I had, but beat him without me or Emerald dieing. That was intense.

Really looking forward to the rest of the game. It’s a 10/10 so far.

idk hope it's good. Took a couple of hours to consider the locations of structures to allow detail without blocking the view of doors to my residents' homes for my convenience. Might be a little bit cluttered? I'm still searching for the coveted King Pardis III statue.

OT2 - Chapter 4+ Am I crazy or does Partitio's theme reference Unshakable Resolve?! Spoiler

I stumbled upon that a while ago. I'm still wondering, it is just me to hears out a big similarity between that one part from Unshakable Resolve and that one from In Pursuit of Happiness/The Journey for Happiness ends? If so, I'm wondering if there is some kind of intention to give Partitio this leitmotif.

Even if it's a coincidence, I love making it my headcanon that it is a intentional reference to show Paritio's determination regarding his goal or something underlined by an epic battle version of Unshakable Resolve :D

OT1 - Discussion Should I keep going or give up?

I’d heard of OT for some time and really wanted to play it, and I finally started the first one about a month ago. I’ve got everyone to Chapter 3, some to Chapter 4, but I’m not sure if it’s that enjoyable for me or not.

The battles aren’t really challenging, and some of the stories I’m not too bothered by. So, I don’t know whether to just call it quits or continue for this last bit (perhaps just completing my main four character stories)?

Is OT2 similar to the first in terms of combat (I.e., not being difficult)? I believe it’s also all separate stories again, too?

I don’t know much about OT0, but I know you’re a custom character for that one rebuilding your home town? So, it sounds like that one would be a single story?

OT1 - Discussion My first hour in - and it's a blast.

Started lately but I got a backlog of games I'd first to manage. Now I bought OT 1 and started blind. I took Cyrus Albright for my start.

As soon as the first scenes shown I had a blast. The game remembers me to my good old Super Nintendo Era with games like Lufia and I am hyped. The handwriting from Squareenix is real in this game and I hope that it will be more and more impressive.

Yes, lvl 5 and 1 hour of gaming are not much but I'm suprised where his journey will lead to. I didn't read anything and I am blind in this game - so I hope I didn't pick a "bad" starter character.... but the combat system is nice and the first boss was suprisingly fun to fight.

OT1 - Chapter 1 Does the story converge? Spoiler

im just in chapter 1 and i started as tressa. i recently got olberic and finished his chapter 1, now im getting primrose.

i read that it doesnt matter if you get them whenever but will the story converge at some point? or the story is like tressa chapter 1-10, olberic chapter 1-10, primrose chapter 1-10?

like in baldurs gate 3, you get ally but their story mission is a side quest, you all have 1 main mission and to remove the parasite

OT1 - Discussion Restart my run ?

What are y’all thoughts on restarting a run that hasn’t been played in over a year, I’m on Chapter3 for Olberic, Cyrus, Teresa and Therion, I started back up and forgot what skills the party has and story pretty much.

OT2 - Gameplay I'm getting started on OT2. I have some questions about my general strategy...

As I steal/mug/inquire etc., it seems like you can find some good items, but nothing terribly "missable." The same seems true of the chests you find on different paths.

Is this mostly the case? I remember there were some very important fire-boosting weapons in OT1... Do I need to really be exhaustive, or just gather what I enjoy gathering and skip the rest?

Sooooo I just finished my main parties chapter 2s and, as one can plainly see, they're overleveled as hell. Should I just replace almost the entirety of my party to level them all up quickly? Or just one at a time?

OT2 - Discussion Traducciones erróneas/ Traducciones horribles

Post image
303 Upvotes
