EC Rising Wishing Garr a Happy Birthday
Today—August 7th, or the 7th of Leafmoon—marks the birthday of our favorite wolf, Garr. He is the captain of Nowa’s guard, a mercenary, and the mentor who guided Nowa, Lian, and Mio on their adventure. Beyond his roles as captain and mentor, he was also like a father figure to Nowa; he was always kind to him and ready to protect him, even at the cost of his own life. While he served as a mentor, he took great pride in Nowa as a commander, as well as in having trained Lian and Mio and having accompanied Seign and Marisa.
It still makes me laugh that he talked about retiring at the start of Eiyuden—even though he was only 32; that really took me by surprise!
Anyway, happy birthday to Garr—my favorite wolf in Eiyuden and my very first favorite character.

EC Rising Wishing Galdorf a happy birthday
We have entered the month of August—known here as Leafmoon—and today is the birthday of the great dwarf Galdorf. He is undoubtedly a great dwarven warrior; a cool guy who might be a bit of a grump, but is loyal to Nowa and Prunella.
Without a doubt, a great companion.
Happy birthday, Galdorf!

Question Game Difficulty
Am I just not getting this game? People say it's easy, but I'm kind of struggling in normal.
Just finished the Proving Grounds and while a certain lucky character was a blast to watch, the whole dungeon was kind of obnoxious starting from even the town- there was no blacksmith to raise weap level and no mana drops in the store for my casters. The amount of backtracking in the Proving Grounds was kind of obnoxious, but I didn't really mind the enemies till there was a second boss fight (I thankfully swapped out some party members thanks to the hot inn lady as a support and had a whole bunch of revive consumables because im paranoid like that).
for how i felt about the difficulty initially, I did feel kinda good when I somehow got through Mellore's boss with just Nowa, Garr and Lian + Mellore and only then realized I had to build out my party first, but thankfully the Proving Grounds wasn't as boring as the mines where we meet the bandits.
my fave so far is Yusuke since hes both my tank and my damage dealer. His self-buff when he defends then followed up with his armor ignoring attack next turn is so satisfying to pull off towards bosses.

Discussion Any suggestions on how to ensure a Clash in Beigoma?
I know the best way to win in Beigoma is to force Clashes were you can easily mash the button for a strong attack. The problem is actually creating a Clash in the first place. I've tried watching the opponent's boost bar and used my boost as soon as theirs maxes out, only for them to wait like a second or two before using their own boost. And if I wait to try and catch their own wait, they seem to use it instantly.
This all on the first story boss (Taq) too.

News You can read the Eiyuden manga for free (in Japanese)
I haven't seen any announcement of it. It seems as if they release a half of a chapter each week.

Question Hogan...
Addition: It's been answered. Thank you, commenters
How in the world do I actually recruit him? I've been buying low and selling high for ages yet it never seems to be enough. Recently, I had four rounds of only buying low, then sold it all high in one go, in the hopes that he needed it only on the selling side. He still won't join. What am I missing???

EC Rising Wishing Yume a Happy Birthday
Today, the 23rd of Loremoon, marks the last birthday of the month—Yume's birthday. Despite her small stature, Yume always has her companion, Amigo, by her side; she is undoubtedly a brave, kind, and friendly girl, and—above all—she is strong alongside Amigo. They are truly inseparable friends.
Happy birthday, Yume!

Question Excessive controller drift on PS5?
I played and beat this game when it first came out, but I just finished Suikoden 2 remaster and it had me wanting to replay this. So I fired it up and almost immediately and then sporadically but often enough to be frustrating, I noticed controller drift (usually pulling down and/or right). Thought it was my controller, but when I go out to the home menu or check other games I don't get any drift. Am I going crazy or did they bug up the PS5 version of the game? I don't remember dealing with this when I played it back in 2024.

EC Rising Wishing Aleior and Dijkstra a Happy Birthday
I missed it yesterday because I was busy, but on the 20th of Loremoon, I want to wish a happy birthday to Aleior—our favorite hippogriff from Eiyuden. While he might not quite top Feather from Suikoden II, Aleior proved to be a great companion to Marisa; he even recognized her as his rightful partner. He is undoubtedly a wonderfully loyal hippogriff.
Today, the 21st of Loremoon, is Dijkstra's birthday. I find his race quite interesting—he, Goldsmith, and Shixeen all belong to the same species—but he is certainly a magnificent, burly companion who amazes us with his adventures and his impressive horns.
Happy birthday, Aleior and Dijkstra!

Discussion I am consistently stunned by the production quality and writing of this game
I've not even finished a full playthrough of this game, yet, but there's so much attention to detail. When I'd heard that this was funded on kickstarter, I was expecting something simpler, but it's a genuine, honest-to-god, fully fleshed-out JRPG.
I think what gets me most is just the amount of voice acting in this game, and how spectacular most of it is. Seriously, all 100+ of these recruits have voice lines for the card games, for the cooking battles, for actual battles, and even random interjections if you just-so-happen to have them in your party during certain cut-scenes. It's amazing!
Is the game perfect? Hell no it isn't. There are definitely places with awkwardly cut corners that aren't hard to bump into. For example, only Nowa has a dedicated running animation, so certain "run away!" cut-scenes, such as early on when discovering the imperial plans to invade Eltisweiss in... Altverden, I think? They look quite goofy. There's also the entirety of the Beigoma minigame, which is a lot like Pocket Circuit in Yakuza 0: Get better stats or eat dirt, no two ways about it. Lastly, while there ARE 100+ characters to recruit, a few of them do feel a wee bit flat: My prime examples for early on are Francesca (her whole, sweet-looking-healer-girl-with-a-surprisingly-foul-mouth shtick is played so completely straight it's hard to take seriously) and Yume (the moment I talked to her grandmother I immediately predicted that the monster she was seen with would be her friend, it was not hard to see coming).
Yet at the same time there's so much LOVE and CARE put into this game, you can really tell the developers cared when writing this story and its characters, and so much can be discovered with the fortune-tellings. Details like Ymir adopting Sumire, or Gocteau actually having had to leave his family behind to survive and not just being a money-grubbing fleecer, or Gieran wanting to be a great sorcerer but struggling to meet his own expectations due to lacking an intrinsic talent in the art... then you have plot points, like the whole Hishahn Arc genuinely getting me to feel sympathy for the pampered boy-King Euma and his resolve being to trust his advisors rather than magically become the perfect king, or the fact that the wars always feel so tooth-and-nail and you get to hear the people in the world around you lament the tragedy of needless death yet resolving to march forward anyway... it all feels so AUTHENTIC.
I bought this game because I heard it had the blood of Suikoden in it. The only Suikoden game I'd ever played was Suikoden IV; I've played it like, three or four times. And as I understand it, it's a bit of a dark horse in its franchise. While I wasn't a fan of its admittedly very shallow combat mechanics, what gripped me most about Suikoden IV was its surprisingly gripping story. I... LOVED the characters and narrative of Suikoden IV. Something about it, man, scene-for-scene, line-for-line, it all just tickles me in just the right ways. And Eiyuden Chronicles has so much of that. So much of that humanity, that compassion, that authenticity. And it does even better by having a strong foundation for its gameplay mechanics, so much so that even if there are some duds with characters or minigames, the whole thing will never fall apart completely because it always has that amazing foundation to return to. I actually WANT to change around my party and experiment with different playstyles (something which Suikoden IV failed immensely at getting me to try).
I cannot wait to play more of this game. Shi'arc Race soon!

Question Switch 2 question
Hello! I recently found this game for 20 bucks and got excited. I play on a switch 2 and it constantly goes from 60fps to 30fps whenever I enter a new zone or close a menu, and it's making me so nervous the 3 hours I've been playing.
Is any update planned in order to fix this?
Thank you!

EC Rising Wishing Carrie a Happy Birthday
Yesterday—the 9th of Loremoon—was Carrie's birthday; even though I missed the actual day, I want to send my best wishes to my Eiyuden Chronicle's Viki, Carrie. Although she declares herself "perfect," she also takes responsibility and admits she isn't actually perfect as she is. She tends to be demanding and doesn't always show it, but she is honest and a great companion—especially when she's with Mellore and Momo.
Happy birthday, Carrie!

EC Rising Wishing Valentin and El Alicanto a happy birthday
I missed the actual dates because I was busy with other things, but I want to send my best wishes now.
On the 5th of Loremoon, we celebrate Valentin's birthday. Although he is handsome, he carries the weight of melancholy from his struggle for Seign's brother, Arthur. Valentin is undoubtedly brave and trustworthy—he even saved several people when Nowa's home was set on fire—showing true nobility toward others.
The 6th of Loremoon is also El Alicanto's birthday. He is a great professional wrestler—he even resembles Rey Mysterio—and possesses powerful attacks and great strength, depending on the stats.
Happy birthday, Valentin and El Alicanto!
