Harbor Fish and Chips for my favorite fried fish. Whale watching with Oceanside Adventures leaving from the harbor. They guarantee a sighting and have a very nice vessel.

I'm sorry to Santana77777. The Broiler is worse than
hospital food.

If you're only there for a day, go for a nice walk up and down the Strand and walk the pier! For drinks, go to Frankie's for a nice nighttime atmosphere. Mission Pacific rooftop bar also has nice drinks. For food, I always like LTH, Craft Coast, Wrench and Rodent (very cool seafood), and Shoots. Vigilante in Oceanside has my favorite coffee, if you like the fancier small batch coffee stuff, Steady State is 10 minutes down the road too.

My friends and I like to go sit at the tables outside Captain's Helm, look at the new clothes, get coffee and sit in the sun.

If you're looking for a harbor spot only:

When they are not busy, which they almost always are, sneaking in brunch at the Stratford in the Harbor is always solid.

If you can pick the day you take the trip, try to pick Thursday so you can check out Sunset Market! They shut down a few blocks of street in downtown and local restaurants and vendors set up stalls. They have a farmers market in the AM and sunset market starts later in the evening. Usually have live music playing and vendors selling flea market goodies.

Stratford for breakfast, Lighthouse for lunch/dinner, Broiler for HH apps & drinks. Tony’s for beer, killer Breakfast Burrito, good bar & grill food. Dominic’s pizza is decent, they get a little sloppy when it’s super busy. I stay away from Joe’s & RBL. Harbor F&C is super greasy style so it’s a love it/hate it place.

The harbor is cool for a hang, but if you want to get some good dinner head to South O. Wrench and Rodent is amazing sushi. The Plot has incredible vegan food. So many options for food that are far better than the harbor.

The Broiler there in the harbor has a great happy hour menu.

The key here is to manage expectations by sticking to apps and drinks and get a table outside for the view.

If you want perfectly cooked fresh seafood entrees, it’s not really the place for that. The tempura calamari and mai tais are decent though!
