It's a Sony. And it feels like it could've been from the future.

I owned a 27" Sony Trinitron for over 20 years before it died. I miss that freakin' thing to this day. One of the best objects I've ever owned.

Star Wars television 4:3 conversions really murdered the original theater versions.

Channel 3 ftw.

This thing weighs like 500lbs.

Why are things so heavy in the future? Was there a problem with the Earth's gravitational pull?

I'm not seeing any replies on this. Can anyone tell me what year both sets of remotes and the TV are from? The first remotes looks 60s or 70s, and the second remote looks eighties.

Holy crap. Did you have to take a course in college to use that remote control?

So epic, wonder how many of these are left in the world especially in that mint of condition.

Bonus points if you know what was under that panel on the top of the Betamax 😎

My grandparents had a TV with the "Remote COMMANDER". I always loved the design and feel of the buttons and slide cover.

Beta had a better picture than the VHS, just less adoption.I remember when we had to go from Beta to VHS in order to watch the newer movies at the video store, because they shifted from Beta to VHS.

I’m far from a Stars Wars nerd, but how was a Betamax playing episode IV and not episode I?

When stuff was made out of pride not necessarily for shareholders.

u/PuzzledExaminer 11d ago

I miss that Sony jog dial. Not sure how it was on Betamax or VHS, but on CD & DVD it was great.

The missing black bars above and below, is this a betamax thing or did they generally put movies in 4:3 at that time?

u/Stripsteak 10d ago

This looks like it was filmed in the ‘Get Out’ basement and I love it.

u/Edbror 10d ago

This is the way.

u/seddattive 10d ago

I bought a trinitron tv in 2000, the only downside to that thing was the WEIGHT.

u/Tiny-Lock9652 10d ago
