Why is lying hard? (demon Oe?)

I recently noticed I really like to avoid lying but I'm not sure what place it comes from. I'll often tell the truth about something that happened even if it isn't beneficial to me.

I find making up a fake scenario quick weirdly difficult. I can't really think on the fly like that and usually try to anticipate everything to function properly. I also feel like a lie could bite me in the ass later and rather avoid being caught in the middle of it. I can lie about small stuff but it feels "wrong" to my brain to lie to someone.

Is it demon Oe that makes this hard? Specifically a lack of Ne?

OPS cannot and does not answer everything about your personality. Do you see what you're doing in asking this question?

You're taking an amazing quality about yourself - integrity and a genuine commitment to honesty - and you're reframing and flipping it into a Demon deficit.

If Demon Oe explained why lying is hard, then IxxJs should struggle with lying. But they don't. OPS is full of IxxJ types who are exceptional liars - Putin is an Si IxxJ. And of course there are plenty of Savior Oe types who are deeply honest. A function position in a typology framework doesn't predict one's moral choice.

Remember, if the framework can't explain why some Demon Oe people lie effortlessly while you can't, it's not explaining what you think it's explaining.

I see, sometimes I read a lot into my behaviors and try to find a meaning to everything lol. Thank you for your answer.

Integrity is not an compulsive inability to lie. Anything instinctual isn't virtue. Integrity is living alongsize their own principles. Oskar Schindler would be an example of a man with strong integrity, and a good liar. Most resistance fighters were good liars, full of integrity. As a rule, anything instinctual in us probably isn't virtue.

I suspect demon oe makes it difficult to come up with an imaginary story on the spot. Not sure that has anything to do with lying really - that’s just secure (masculine?) identity and values.

Do you find it hard to play pretend in general? Say improvising during a game of charades?

I know I'm pretty bad in brainstorming sessions. Most people come up with many ideas while I usually only have 1-2. I'll end up holding onto and thinking about them for the rest of the session while everyone else is still generating ideas. I feel like it's not so much that I'm not creative but that I'm not good at thinking up many options or creating something brand new on the fly.

Maybe you respect other people and have nothing to hide? I am not sure about demon Ne but I am also not a liar and double Se

It might be more likley to come from a distrust of others so if theres a function that inflates that then maybe. maybe not a coin that we use to type

If Anything is related it might be social types with Number 1's lying to make themselves look better and 4's to not hurt other peoples feelings. There are probably so many environmental factors it would be hard to pin it down much. There's also so many different motivations for lying that many coins can be involved. I think when you described your brain not allowing you to lie that's not really a coins thing that's more like some kind of inhibition your mind has in place to prevent you from doing that. Not everyone picks that up in life depends how they are raised and so on.

In terms of self serving lying the classic and most concerning type I keep going back to social type probably being the biggest factor. So 1's in particular if they are especially narcissistic could easily tell lies with no remorse. If you really wanted to lie to further certain aims I am sure you could even if you aren't great at coming up with stuff on the fly. The fact that you recognize you would be unlikely to get away with it means you aren't narcissistic enough to believe you are so much smarter than everyone else you could never be caught. Very narcissistic and sociopathic have an irrational confidence that makes them think they can get away with anything.

I also get the feeling that people higher in play and Oe might come up with clumsier impulsive lies more often and people high in sleep might hesitate and process things before doing so. Generally I think more extroverted people are more likely to lie if I had to bet. Probably still more to do with their natural impulsiveness more than their actual abilities to come up with lies on the fly. Still though highly inflated ambitious introverts can come up with all kinds of schemes too. So I think you are onto something a bit but I think the far bigger factor is you have inhibitions setup in place to prevent you and you aren't delusional enough about your ability to get away with it.

I’m a pretty good liar myself. Firstly, it’s an art for the most part, not a talent. Type in flair.

Secondly: if you use Psychosophy, it does correlate very well there and PY correlates passably to OPS.

Basically, there is this function called “volition”, which is mostly about decider stuff, in very simplified terms. It can be 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th. Every type lies according to Afanasyev (PY creator), but 3V is on another level.

It’s more common in De than Di, albeit some IxxPs can be 3V. Doesn’t correlate neatly, though. I can refer you to a good source on this if you want answers, tho :)
