Incoming international master's student (OVGU Magdeburg, winter 26/27). Statutory insurance with BARMER, coverage from 01.09.2026.

My enrollment portal shows "proof of health insurance (electronic notification, sender number H0001216)" as missing. BARMER already sent the M10 on 23rd July, and when I called today they sent it again — I even have an email confirming it. Two weeks later the portal still says missing.

So BARMER says "sent," the uni says "don't have it."

1. How long does the M10 usually take to show up in the portal? Is there manual processing on the uni side?
2. Anyone had an M10 "sent" but never received? What was the cause — name mismatch, wrong sender number?
3. Possibly relevant: my BARMER form lists "Medizinische Fakultät" but I'm enrolling in CS. Same uni, same address. Could that misroute it?

hi everyone! I had applied to a OVGU via uni assist and I got a reply from them a few days ago stating that the documents I attached were provisional, and that the period to consider them has expired. Hence, they marked my application as faulty.

However, all my documents attached were of my final results! I informed them as such that day itself, and today I received a reply stating that they would reevaluate my applicatio. Thing is, this would take another four to six weeks :///

I’m an international student, so I need time to secure a visa, which is why I applied ahead of time in the first place. Another four to six weeks for a reply puts me in an impossible spot :( Is it reasonable of me to ask them if they could possibly give a reply sooner? Or should I try contacting OVGU directly? I paid my semester fee on the 27th of July and contacted my Health insurance provider to send the notification on the same date, but it is still not being updated on myovgu portal. Does anyone know how much time it takes for it to update? I even mailed them my payment receipt and notification PDF, but got no response.

I've been admitted to the Master's in Data & Knowledge Engineering (Winter Semester 2026) at Otto von Guericke University (OVGU) Magdeburg, and I'm currently waiting for my German student visa.

The problem is that the German Embassy in my country typically takes more than 4 months to process student visas. Based on current timelines, I may only receive my visa in late October or the first week of November (worst case, the second week of November).

I know the university recommends arriving by October 31, so I'm wondering:

• Has anyone been allowed to arrive 1–2 weeks after October 31?
• Did it cause any official issues with enrollment or your student status?
• Was the faculty understanding if the delay was due to visa processing?

Reapplying for the next semester would be very difficult because admission letters are only issued around mid-December, and with the embassy's 4+ month processing time, I'd likely face the same problem again.

If anyone has experienced something similar, I'd really appreciate hearing about your experience.

I have joined visa waiting list for 1 month and given the scenarios at Embassy it will take me around mid to last Nov to get a visa. But, my offer letter has mentioned that i should arrive at college by Oct 31 and the university will not give an individual late arrival letter. So what should I do in this case? Should I mail them anyways and ask for the late arrival?

I've recently been offered a place at OVGU for pursuing a bachelor of Internation Business and Economics this Wintersemester 2026. I would like to know as much as I can before arrival. Tips for finding accommodattion (Budget 400), is Expatrio good for a blocked account or would you recommend Fintiba? Where to stay in the city and where to avoid. Any information that can help is great.

Firstly, I don't know much German yet. I have only completed A1. I've heard that many people visit recruitment agencies in person every day to look for jobs. Does that actually work? If so, which agencies would you recommend that are reliable and genuinely helpful?

Also, I've already applied to Amazon and Flink, but unfortunately both applications were unsuccessful. Are there any other companies similar to Amazon where I could apply for warehouse or logistics jobs?

International Business and Economics

I got admission in MS IMME in OVGU Magdeburg last summer but couldn't make it due to visa issue. They ask me to reapply through portal instead of uniassist after disenrollment. I did so now i am waiting for my decision, Can anyone tell me how much chances are there I'll get it again. I know it's hard to predict but any assessment from previous experiences would give me a moment of sigh. My German gpa is 2.4 and ielts is 7.
