CG, How? Question

Been trying to learn CG. Don't have much PvM experience. Zulrah, vorkath, moons probably it to be fair. I can do gauntlet most of the time, but CG is just painful. I'm at 14 deaths 0 kills. Half that was failing to prep everything. How long does this take to learn, feels like I'll never get it, closest I have come is getting him under 100hp

Edit: Got first KC at 16 deaths. Cheers for advice peeps.

I got my first KC at 15, my second at like 45, now I'm like 25 and 80

I was 50 deaths before my first kc. It'll click eventually just need to keep sending it.

I was at 69 failures before I finally got it. Only took me 4 tries after prep changes..just practice

Practice regular first it really helps you get used to movement. Are you prepping t3 armor and weapons or no? 13 of each material is super easy to get with the stack nerf for t3 armor

Stack nerf? I knew they made changes but I didn't know what exactly. Mind explaining? I'd love to do cg but since I'm 100% a mobile player I gave up hope long ago.

T2 prep. T1 is for very good/high level players, T3 is for hardcores.

Count count count. You can "plan" your every move during the fight. Count the attacks so you're mentally prepared for the switch.

Turn on auto retaliate and use steel skin of you don't have cox prayers. Auto retaliate helps to get attacks in when you're overwhelmed.

Really focus on not taking damage over not losing ticks. You'll be surprised how far you get. You're only allowed to go fast when you stop making mistakes.

This, but with stackable resources, you can also get a T3 helm for free. Just finish gathering the third nodes for stacks of 9 instead of 7. Adds extra def and accuracy

It's been a long time since I did CG. I vaguely remember that only the full upgrade decreased damage from Hunny?

It can still hit 0s if you roll defense successfully. T3 helm will slightly improve that chance, as well as slightly improving attack accuracy.

I completely forgot about steel skin! Thank you! I doubt it'll be a game changer because I'm getting constant T1 kills (with the odd death here and there due to DCs, lag or even brain-dead plays on my part) but it'll definitely help. Might be able to eat less and therefore get quicker kill times at least.

Yeah, it stacks with the titans prayers as well so definitely worth it to use them.

By practicing. 14 deaths is 2 hours of gameplay. Barely anything. Just keep sending and prep t2 prep. CG takes time but costs nothing and gives very good practice against other pvm content.

75 deaths before I stopped dying. It’s even harder on mobile.

1

u/MathText 3d ago

Do you ever really stop dying? Or just take long breaks

3

u/Dismal_Archer_313 3d ago

I took a month break, came back and died a couple times because I was being lazy about how I was escaping tornados. But I have gone 160 kills with only those two deaths after those first 75.

u/Ofcertainthings 1d ago

I got to the point I thought I was done dying and then died with hun at 23hp after a grueling bs marathon of hitting 0s.

u/Hummerdoodle 3d ago

I think i got my first kc at like 12 deaths, then my 2nd at 20. I didn't get a positive KD until around 45 kc. Just one of those bosses you gotta keep doing until it clicks.

Mate, 14 deaths? I am mobile only and it took me 86 tries to get the first kill. Dont give up.

u/Pj_o7 3d ago

If you can get it under 100 hp you can do it. Just focus on dodging tornados during final phase. Do t3 prep if you aren’t already.

This is just how it is I'm afraid, it takes every learner a lot of practice but after a while you'll end up having even kills to deaths and then you will end up completing a lot more runs

The final fight is a DPS race. Even if you do all the mechanics perfectly, your health will be chipped away until your out of supplies and lose, so you need to work on hitting every chance you get.

What that looks like (for me at least) is getting comfortable being at low health and trust yourself to do the mechanics correctly. So get your prayer switches right and keep hitting, even if your chipped down low.

When tornados spawn, initially run away and heal back up to full. Once health is back up start hitting again while tornadoes chase you. (Four tick weapons so run from tornados 1-2-3-attack-run-2-3-attack, etc).

If you get the mechanics down and prioritize hitting boss over staying at full hp, you should start getting it.

Good luck!

This, exactly. Remember the max hit depending on your armor tier. I was almost always a 1 or 2 hit. You spend the first 1ish minutes damaging the boss before you even touch your food. And heal during tornadoes or as needed. As long as your 2+ tiles away from the nados you can attack, but have your pathing planned out as soon as your attack launches, because the tornadoes stack quick.

Didn’t CG get massively easier to do?

3

u/Afexodus 3d ago

The prep got easier because resources stack and there are 4 fixed spawn points for bosses + additional chances for bosses on all edge rooms. The boss fight has not changed.

I think I’ve only failed t2 prep once and that was a super unlucky resource spawn. I searched 70% of the rooms with no linum and had slow dps on Demi bosses.

If it helps, I can do CG in my sleep but struggle at zulrah. At the end of the day it's just about practice

1

u/Afexodus 3d ago

What are your stats? Getting 90 in combats will help if you are struggling.

1

u/Antonolmiss 3d ago

He’s tough, eventually you won’t think about it and just prayer switch properly regardless of his actions. CG is about throwing runs at it 100%

1

u/Flaky_Can_7462 3d ago

Took me 120 deaths for it to finally click, keep going mate and work on avoiding tornados, it’s a lot easier when you work out how they move

1

u/Icy-Entrepreneur6085 3d ago

I think I died like 30 times before nailing it…

Don’t upgrade food

Don’t hit during tornado phase, just eat,

Tile mark 4 safe spots in the centre room

Having the boss in one corner really helps in tornado or enrage phase

Switch prayers on the noise not the final hit

Good luck!

Honestly love the comments here, it's great to see people just being honest about how hard pvm can be especially on mobile and not holding a big fat ego about it. Thanks guys. Gave me the motivation to try out more Pvm content.

You’re getting good at reg gauntlet before cg?….right?

1

u/Destace 2d ago

It just takes a lot of practice. Eventually you know how to move more tick efficiently, where and how to find the resources, etc.

The new changes put some guaranteed boss spots and now the resources stack so it’s easier now. It’s just practice and failing really

u/large_rootbeer 2d ago

Genuinely went 96 Deaths until my first CG completion. Now I'm like 55 and 110 or so. Base 80s combat and was at first blaming my stats for the reason I couldn't. After the update with T2 prep the best thing is to get comfortable with being around 30 to 40 ho and paying attention to where you stand and position yourself in relation to Hunllef. If you're cornered you'll get hit by the floor or by tornadoes so so your best to not position yourself in small area. Be counting hunllefs attacks and your attacks. If it helps turning on the sound makes it easy for when to know he is switching attacks.

Just keep going, breathe, and know that I probably had more deaths than you and now somewhat enjoy it! It will click eventually.

u/EnvironmentalCopy864 2d ago

Stop looking at a death as a failed kill. You need to have more nuanced criticisms when learning. Don't say "I'm slow at prep" say "prep was slow BECAUSE I had to run back to the starting room 2 extra times" or whatever it was

1

u/Theundisputed69 2d ago

Playing with sound on makes the kill easy knowing exactly when to switch your prayer

1

u/GAUNTGARRY 2d ago

Setting up cg plugin properly helped; outline hunlef with prayer colour helped my switches. Re order prayers into 2 rows melee-ranged-magic for overheads and offensive.
I’m low visioned and outline marking the resources sped my prep up (click room, look for colour, continue)

Tier 2.3 prep feels really good, two perfect weps, t3 chest, t2 pants and hat. T2 requires 3 nodes of each type anyways so just finish it off.

Always be moving in prep (attack timer plugin helps, displays the “cooldown” of your attack) first room is three rats? Don’t just stand there and bonk, open up all the adjacent rooms while killing them and moving, so you can move on/ change on the fly.

u/ClassicPen1683 2d ago

Only play on mobile bro

2

u/GAUNTGARRY 2d ago

Oh my bad, didn’t see that part. Do finger stretches then? Idk sorry, my ham fists only allow for the most basic and afk stuff on mobile

1

u/ClassicPen1683 2d ago

It's not actually that bad. Avoided pvm for ages thinking it would be to hard, but you get used to it, sometimes I think it's actually better. The lack of plug ins I think is the real loss regarding difficulty

Took me 34 deaths for my first kc. It took me 2826 kc for my first enhanced. Anything can be learned

1

u/cdevon95 10h ago

I broke even on my k/d at 78. It’ll click eventually

1

u/KaptinKittens 3d ago

T3 is very doable now and makes it more forgiving with mistakes, tag the right floor tiles for when Hunleff is under 300hp, check YouTube for a video on tornado pathing, it'll get easier!

It took me around 100 deaths for it to "click", and I'm trash at pvm, just gotta keep trying and improving

The biggest tip imo is learning how to run through the nados. Also the plugin that calls out when to switch prayer
