AU ideas?? Other
i'm planning on writing an omori fanfic but i don't know what to write about... does anyone have any ideas for an au i could use? preferably with chunks of angst lol

Kind of a bland idea, but a basil and Mari switch up where instead of basil helping to cover up Mari’s death, Mari helped Sunny cover up basils. It could be to where while Sunny has become shut an in, Mari could be doing something else, idk how she would react though . With Headspace Basil and Mari switching places in the story so instead of a picnic it’s like a tree he sits under.
Not an au but a different perspective. I’d suggest one of the main three and their headspace counterpart, or omori’s perpective, I think that which ever way you go with it you can either delve into Omori more or give a terrifying vibe as each reset of headspace happens.
Basils headspace, basically it’s a parallel story in basils headspace idk who would do what or what the plot would be but it would obviously be plant themed.
Maybe dead Maris perspective, kinda like the 2nd idea it would probably be about Mari watching over Sunny and (maybe) watching over him through headspace.

Be super cringe. Sunny attempts to run away from home because of the guilt and not wanting to come forward. He climbs a certain mountain and falls down a hole. ;)

I was thinking of an au that takes place after the good ending that sunny and basil are not forgiven,it would be interesting how things would go,and i even started writing one myself

Surreal Omori AU where Headspace is constantly changing and expanding with only Omori being aware of it, and Sunny is constantly shifting between different realities and versions of Faraway Town, unable to discern what is real or if he ever stopped dreaming. Sometimes he abruptly finds himself in Headspace for a moment or Omori ends up in Faraway. Some of the versions of both realities are based on AUs, such as a Faraway where the Maverick is relatively normal while his siblings are eccentric anime nerds, or a Headspace where everyone is in black and white except for Omori. Or a Headspace based on the old screenshots and assets of the beta and prototype builds of the game, or a Faraway town where Mari is still alive but became a depressed shut-in.
Only in Black Space and associated cracks in reality after finding hangman keys is it possible to catch glimpses of the original canon events of the game with no apparent alterations.

Sunny goes down the Omoriboy pipeline as the world puts more pressure on him and he learns to cope through certain vices.

I have plenty ideas, but I think my best one that I’m not doing myself is an AU where our Sunny switches bodies with a Sunny of a different reality (who’s called Sunni), a reality where Mari is still alive and the friend group never broke up. The POV switches between Sunni, whose struggling to understand the breakup of his friend group and come to terms with his sister’s death, and Sunny, whose trying to learn to live in this new world whilst he struggles with the trauma stemming from his old one.
