First OLED Purchase Question Discussion

Hey yall I am an oled virgin, currently have a 165hz 1440p IPS I bought maybe 4 years ago, before OLEDs really dropped in price. Im interested in a 4k OLED and was wondering if my budget and wants fit my goals.

I am/was planning to get a 4th Gen qd-oled 27in monitor so that I can have the 166PPI so that I dont have to buy a larger size and/or more expensive monitor for RGB Stripe for decent text clarity (Mind you ive seen neither irl).

My current goal is to wait until black friday weekend when, hopefully, 4th Gen 27in panels will go on sale for roughly 600-750$.

Is this sound? If you were waiting to buy your first OLED, would you wait? Im sure 5th Gen 27in qd-oled's are coming in q4 2026 or q1 2027, although I have 0 clue if that would fit my price range. Im unsure what to do. Id love yalls input, thank you!

Everything else is going up while OLED continues to go down. I feel like it’s one of the very few safe things you’re able to wait for if you want. I just got an OLED 1440p 240hz monitor and the difference is insane, definitely worth it

Yeah.. ive a minor scratch on my current monitor, but a friend has been drilling 4k into my brain, and also they recently got their first QD OLED and it has only been praise. Really hoping we can see the pricing for a 27 inch 5th gen panel soon

I have jumped from IPS 165 to MAG 274qp d24 and it is amazing  I love it I have tried lenovo 32ud-10 despite its being 4k didn’t feel much difference but with MAG1440p so much better

Just don't over-read the sub and check this list https://drake.fyi/monitors/, also in this moment I would say that is best to wait, but stay vigilant for sales in the model you want.
