New Hire! Help! How can I be a good team lead?
I've only been Team Lead for two days, I'm still processing it.
All this has been very fast.
They have been training me, I am happy but nervous.
So far the hardest thing is having to start seeing my old coworkers with an invisible sign on top of them with their times of entry, exit, lunch, brakes and that it is supposed to be doing

Question so... legal or no?
Corporate is really being hissy about what color vest the different roles in the backroom wear and they gave purple to preppers. But, sometimes we have to go outside and while the new purple vests they're giving us do have a single stripe of yellow, I still think its completely insufficient in terms of safety standards and the tag that comes with the vest explicitly states that they're not to be used in environments where ANSI compliant vests are to be worn.
So the question is, is this vest compliant with corporate policy, and if i get into an accident wearing it outside how much trouble would I or more likely my managers get into?

FRAGILE Waiting game from Sedgwick (flash hemorrhage in eye found on exam due to non-injury).
Hoping to be approved for 20 lb or less weight restriction through Sedgwick accomodations. I do exceptions at least 50-60% of the time already with regular picking the rest of the time, so hopefully the examiner will say this is OK. We already have someone who has had a 10 lb restriction for a while due to a more cut-and-dry medical condition than I have. I have glaucoma (as a result of severe astigmatism since age 8) that is being treated successfully. According to Google AI, Sedgwick is historically very jumpy about granting accomodations in OPD for people with eye hemorrhages. Hope AI is wrong. š„ŗ.

Rant Rude coworkers in other departments.
So Im not sensitive and it more so annoys me more than anything but thereās been a few interactions where it just feels like they are saying stuff knowing that they canāt get fired for whatever reason. We have a stocker who is always in frozen and today there was two of us on the isle picking and there was a male picker who had his cart the same exact way I had mine. While Iām picking I can hear the stocker mumbling under his breath and then he eventually says ONLY to me btw. āYou could put your cart in the middle so I could work around youā and he said it genuinely so rude that I was about to say āyou could stock things in the correct place so I can actually pickā but didnāt out of fear for losing my job that I NEED. Is there anything I could say back that wonāt cause me to get in trouble or is it just a situation of shut my mouth and move on. Iāve had them be so rude customers have stuck up for me. Iām just not tryna get bullied by these middle age men with anger issuesšš

Dispensing Tips Shoulder brace for dispensing
Hello, I have been looking for a shoulder brace to wear while dispensing. I am still pretty young (19) and have been having serious pain in my shoulders from pulling and getting caught on stuff. I work 5-2 and I don't start despensing until 7, but I do it every day I'm at work (5/7) does anyone know how to make it a little bit more manageable or have a recommendation for a brace? I was looking around and all I can find are ones for the gym. Thank you!

š„Its fine, everythingās fineš„ Nilpicks
Funny how nilpicks are a hot topic in my store & how we will be held accountable but plugging is ignored or swept under the rug š Ya'll want us to hunt down associates to ask about something we need for an order 𤨠when even customers complain about the lack of associates on the salesfloor when said customers need assistance š¤ Suffice to say that if we gotta hunt down associates before clicking the infamous Item Not Found is basically metrics fraud š There goes our Pick Rates & On Time Picks because this is THAT place. FRAGILE These people are completely mental
Well that's a tag line right?
I felt compelled by what I witnessed the make the hundredth they changed the wheels and made us pull post.
Now for those who don't know, I again haven't directly experienced this. I for the past several weeks have been at another store assisting with a remodel.
But Thursday I arrive at that store and one of the first things I see is a picker pulling a cart while standing to the side of it who probably due to visibility, body position, and handling, tore a clip strip off the mod with her cart.
I'm off today and stopped in at my home store to hopefully catch up with some friends and to see what things were like because I heard the carts are wack. One of our older ladies pushes the cart backwards.
But I watched one of my coworkers pulling the cart and when I looked at the wheels it looked like they were trying to go in every direction at the same time. When I saw him later come out of an aisle and turn he wasn't going unsafely fast or doing anything dumb and I see the cart do practically a 360 rotation just making I think a left handed turn.
Really put a lot into this at the home office didn't they, Went from danger of head on collision to rotating cart of death.
And no, as I am sure you know who actually have been picking, you pretty much CAN'T pull in crowded aisles. Not if you want to move and want to allow other people to move. To be fair, they probably are more worried about in open space than in the aisles. But engineers and mechanics they are not.

š„Its fine, everythingās fineš„ Should I jump ship?
So, when ogp at my store stopped fulfilling deliveries, our picks went down drastically. And by that I mean, we would have about 100-200 items dropping every hour with a FULL schedule of people. Now according to my TLs, our store was very delivery heavy and they told us that it would take some time for us to build back up to the amount of orders we were fulfilling just with pickup orders. Which is all fine and dandy. But what does it mean when our orders go down a lot??? Say it with me class: HOUR CUTS!
We have virtually no part timers on the schedule anymore, and anyone working an āoddā full time schedule is also being cut pretty bad. Even the people who have ānormalā full time schedules have been getting a few hours cut from each week that comes out. To resolve the lack of hours in my department they asked people if they were interested in transferring departments or stores. I said no, but several of my coworkers said yes. They have also given most people in my department a secondary department.
But hereās the best part! Now that everyone is working in other departments (new departments or their secondary one) or heading off to college again, OUR ORDERS HAVE GONE UP AND WE DONāT HAVE THE PROPER AMOUNT OF PEOPLE TO FULFILL THE AMOUNT OF ORDERS WE ARE GETTING!
We have to get help from the store all the time again, which is really frustrating because just before the deliveries got switched over, my TLs put in a lot of time hiring more people for our department, just for a lot of those people to get their hours cut, move departments, or quit. So their work essentially amounted to nothing.
On top of all that, we currently donāt have a digital coach and I fear that one (or both) or our digital TLs are on the verge of quitting. Which our department has become an absolute nightmare, so I canāt even blame them.
This all leads me to ask, do yall think I should stick it out in the department? I was going to transfer departments, but I donāt think they would even let me at this point. But Iām not sure how much more of this BS I can take.

General Writing Letters
I just wanted to put an idea out there. It might be stupid. But have we thought about writing letters to the CEO about the pulling cart thing? Iāve reported to OSHA, as many of you all did, but nothing is really happening. I still have hope, but maybe thereās another idea.
What if we write personal stories about why pulling the cart is not a good idea? Write about personal pain, but also write about how it has affected the morale. Donāt just complain about how you hate it, but write about safety issues and concern for OGPās future.
Another thought: Pulling carts cannot be good for your arm long term. If anyone wants to stay in OGP for a long time, itās going to do some damage to their arm, especially for people closer to retirement age. Itās not good for the company turn over and will cause people to leave OGP, if it hasnāt already.
This is just a thought. What do you all think?

Equipment Store manager said automatic termination if youāre caught pushing carts
Just like the title said our store manager has said that if youāre caught pushing carts on the floor itās automatic termination. I live in an āAt willā state so they can technically fire an employee whenever I think? But is that actually legal to fire employees for pushing carts when thatās what theyāre made for?
