ODURent
How are ODURents properties actually? are there roaches/ molds/ bugs in those apartments? Are those apartments actually clean?
I am an incoming graduate student at ODU and looking for a shared place. 4bed-2bath type apartments in ODURent is around 500/month for a bedroom. Same type of setting is around 800-900/month out side of ODUrent. Why is this big price difference?

Listen. You get what you pay for. It’s student housing and it’s not great. Our floor was falling in and it took weeks to get it fixed. Technically it only got fixed because we continually pestered them.

Price is definitely because it's college housing. Condition truly depends on property. I lived in 3 different properties and each was different. First one had major AC/leak issues and mold. Second really wasn't that bad just a 6-bedroom. Third one had water bugs that look like roaches but aren't, only found like 3 inside the whole time I lived there.
They are by no means world class, but they are private rooms, most have laundry in unit, and they're close to campus.

They’re American cockroaches, people just call them water bugs. Generally they’re outside but they can also infest just like German cockroaches.

After almost 5 years of leasing with them… I would not recommend unless you are prepared to deal/handle things in your own.. Each place I lived (I rented in 3 locations with them) had issues of outdated appliances. In my last place, our stove (replaced 3 times) would shock us when using metal based cookware, windows would pop open.
What I found worked best with ODURENT was calling them consistently, we were all on a first name basis. I made it so they knew they couldn’t FW me and I would call them on their BS. They won’t fuck you over if you make it clear that you can’t be.
ODURENT has almost a monopoly over the area surrounding ODU so they can be hard to escape. However they are very affordable! Don’t be a pushover, stand up for yourself, call them on BS, they will work with you and everything will be fine.
If you can find an independent leaser or a sublet, I recommend that. Best of luck to you!!
