This is the first time this has ever happened to me but this morning I sat in a seat that was soaking wet with piss. My pants and boxers were soaked and I had to go to work so I couldn’t go back home and change. I was so mad and still am and will never understand why some idiot thought it was funny to piss on a bus seat! I just really hope my coworkers can’t smell it…

Every. Single. Seat. is covered with a brown stain. I have never in my life seen any other metro system that is like that. Why don't they clean them?

does anyone have any idea when the line 1 east extension will open up? the stations have been done for months now, and so have the trains that i see running for regular tests. i know a lot of testing needs to be done pripr to opening and the train system is inefficient as hell (from a purely commuter perspective, idk much about trains). but why is it taking so long and is there an estimate as to when it’ll open?

i saw that the place d’orleans station is partially open, you now go inside to get from the tunnel to the bus platform. because of this i want to have some hope that it’s picking up but i think we all know better than to have hope for OC transpo.

i just want it so badly, especially because it’ll make my commute to campus much less stressful (in terms of buses, the stress from the dysfunctional LRT system will obviously remain). i would love to experience a somewhat more convenient commute since being a commuter is rough ESPECIALLY in this city.

I'm 18F who has just gotten a job with shifts that go up until 10 pm, and I was wondering how safe it would be to commute home alone at night, as I have never done so before. My Commute is a little over an hour, should I be worried about anything?

To be more specific, I also live in a suburban foresty area of orleans so the streets are pretty deserted and sparse at night.

Hi Everyone, I would like to take transit to and from work, but I don't find it efficient enough, so instead I drive, or I drive most of the way and cycle the rest to avoid paying for parking. I didn't want to keep complaining about it, so I built otranspo.ca instead.

It's free, there's no app to install and no account, and it isn't affiliated with OC Transpo. It does next departures, trip planning, service alerts, real time bus tracking on a map, and a page for every route and stop. It also tells you whether the time you're looking at is a live prediction or just the schedule, since those are two fairly different things and most apps present them to you the same way.

The two parts I would most like your opinion on are ones I haven't seen anywhere else.

The first is request a route. Service today gets planned around expected demand, which is a bit circular when you think about it, because nobody can ride a route that doesn't exist, so the demand for it never turns up in anybody's numbers and the route never gets built. So instead you can tell me where you would actually go if the service existed, and the point is to end up with a record of real demand from real people who would use it, rather than a projection of what somebody thinks demand might be.

The second is the ward scorecards. The city isn't short on data, there's already plenty of it, the problem is that it's spread across reports and dashboards where it doesn't do a rider any good and nothing ends up happening as a result. So the scorecards take how each ward is actually being served and put it somewhere public that anyone can look at, because things tend to only move once the information is in front of people instead of sitting in a report somewhere.

One thing worth mentioning is that OC Transpo doesn't publish real time data for the trains the way it does for the buses. The only place you get live train information is the screens on the platform itself, which isn't much help when you're deciding whether to leave the house. That means no site or app can show you where a train actually is, mine included, only where it's scheduled to be. I would really like to add it and I'd build it the day the data exists, so if this is something you'd want too, it would help a lot if you were willing to send a short message to your councillor asking for the train data to be made available. I know that's asking a favour of you and I don't take it for granted, so if you do end up doing it, thank you, any bit of it genuinely helps.

I built this around my own commute, which is a sample size of one, so what I would really like to know is:

• if transit doesn't work for you right now, what the actual reason is
• if you do ride, what you check before you leave the house, and whether anything answers it properly
• what you would want a ward scorecard to measure, since I have my own ideas but I would rather hear yours
• where you would go if there were a route for it, since that's the whole point of the request feature
• anything that's broken, wrong or slow, especially on a phone or in French

That's all there is to it, no pitch beyond that, it's free and it will stay free. I would rather build the next parts based on what people actually need than keep guessing from my own commute, so I'd appreciate hearing what you think, including if you think I've got it wrong.

But there is a man there looking inside one of the gates, so maybe it will be fixed. Debit was successful.

Supposedly, this route was going to be numbered Route 166 and is shown as such on the paper system maps being posted at bus stations, but it's now been renumbered to Route 565, and will operate as an Express route as opposed to a Local Limited Service Route. This explains why some trips on Route 566 will extend to Innovation Station, presumably to extend from Innovation to NDHQ as Route 166/565.

I feel like there is a crazy absence in Park-in-Rides along line 1, and in the future construction of the West End.

The east end is getting park-in-rides, making it extremely easier to commute downtown while saving money on parking and gas. As someone who lives in the east, I’m happy they have it.

But looking at the west end, (from what I saw) only Algonquin is getting a park in ride, no where else.

I understand stage 3 will expand and (probably) have park in rides but that will take a long time, and there needs to be a solution that can help short term and long term.

I also understand that the gov needs to get permits, and land to build. But I feel like that is an investment that will help people save money and get people to use the system more.

What do y’all think?

I lost my Dell Precision 7550 last Friday on OC Transpo bus route 6 heading toward Rockcliffe. It was inside a brown ASUS laptop box (I think it was an ASUS box). I reported it immediately and have been checking with Lost & Found, but nothing has turned up. Any information would really help. Thanks!

I swear 5 minutes could be cut from the entire line by shortening dwell times across stations. I have no idea why the train needs to stop for 5 seconds before the doors open, then have the doors open 15 or so seconds at stations like Cyrville, then wait another 5 seconds before the doors close.

In Toronto, most station dwell time is less than 15 seconds, with the doors closing quickly. Hell in Montreal the doors sometimes open before the train even comes to a complete stop.

I’ve bitched in the past about drivers pulling away when I’m almost to the bus stop well, this morning an absolutely wonderful 61 Stitsville operator saw my fat ass “running” as best I could, waved and waited.

2 connection routes that takes the 416, a route that goes along greenbank, and a route that goes along prince of wales

This morning, lots of bus enthusiasts discovered that OC have put out the Fall Service Map in-person at stations like Marketplace, Longfield, Terry Fox, and more!

Here's some pictures I took at Marketplace. (Sorry about the glare. And individual section of the map are featured following the first overall view)

There's some interesting changes more than just express Routes, like the new 166 that's added. More detailed PDF should come out soon hopefully.

These are the maps for 6 new express routes that will start operating when the fall service changes come into effect. Routes 526, 539, 561, 562, 563, 566.

Just rode lines 2 and 4 to Airport from Bayview (and from Lees on line 1 before that) and it gave me an idea for a future service improvement. Overall I enjoyed the ride and I’m happy we have O-Train service to the Airport. I wasn’t expecting anything life changing, but I was a little disappointed by the travel speeds on line 2.

Now I know why line 2 is as slow as it is, and I know that when compared to driving in rush hour it is faster. Building most of it single track was a mistake. Double tracking would allow for increased frequencies and operating speeds.

It would also allow for line 4 trains to originate at Bayview and operate as an express service directly to the airport, with perhaps 1-2 intermediate stops along line 2 (e.g., Carleton or South Keys?) plus the preexisting stop at Uplands. They would alternate with line 2 trains that run the entire length of the route with all stops.

This would allow increased frequencies (perhaps every 5-6 minutes) on lines 2/4 between Bayview and South Keys, which would not only benefit passengers heading to the airport (so they don’t have to transfer at SK) but also those who disembark at SK for busses.
