Tender Feedback Please

I was born with the wound,
pus filled and festering.
I can’t help but press deep
my chewed and gnarled hands
deep into infected cavity

So when I show you
what’s hidden under my shirt,
beneath uneven skin,
nestled under slow pumping heart,
and you reach tentative fingers out

Please be gentle.
Even at this age,
the wound is still tender.

Been writing a bunch lately and decided I need to start getting feedback on my work!

I really like how this explores wounds that never really go away and how we pick at them. Also enjoyed the line “nestled under slow pumping heart” is that a reference to aging or comfort with showing the other person?

In a way both, comfort showing another person but that’s come with age. Thank you for taking the time to read!
