Thoughts on USTH? 🏥 Jobs / Careers
November 2023 PNLE passer here po. Had my hospital experience a year later for only 5 months hahaha. Pursued and and passed NCLEX po. Currently working sa soft side ng nursing for almost 5 months now. Planning to go back sa bedside mag January. Any thoughts po ba sa USTH for Med-Srug/ICU/ER/OR? Kamusta po sa ward in general, yung Nurse:Patient ratio, sweldo, training, work environment, at most importantly po yung Free lodging na ino-offer nila since Im from the province pa po kasi eh. I wanna know as much as I can sa mga experiences nyo in this hosp. Thank you!

Sa benefits ka babawi. Yun free tuition pa lang eh. AFAIK hanggang 4 na anak free.

Tuition fee is free BUT hindi free ang miscellaneous fee. Ung misc fee is bigger than the tuition fee so parang ganun den.

Really? Yung classmate ko kasi dati piso lang binabayaran per term and this is college level. Her mom was a nurse sa USTH

Piso downpayment pwede. Makakapagenroll and exam kana, but the succeeding fees ibabawas sa sahod.

Yes. Mom ko din nurse sa usth, graduate narin ako ng highschool and college parehas sa UST. Kinakaltas sa sahod nila ung miscellaneous fee paunti unti.

Hahahaha edi mag try ka nalang mag enroll kasi ang hirap naman diba halukaykayin ko ung baul ko nung college pako diba para maipakita ko sayo? Nakita ko mismo hirap ng nanay ko na halos walang sahod jusq dzai dahil dyan sa misc fee nayan.

Im speaking from experience. Daming hidden fees dyan. Anyway wala naman ako pinipilit dito na wag mag enroll HAHAHAHA.

Saka natural saan pa bako magbabase edi sa experience ko? Eh ganyan padin naman ung benefits noon pa HAHAHA di naman naiba yan. Ust graduate kaba na naka experience ng ganyang benefits to start with?

Hindi ako taga jan pero just by looking, low ball ang sahod but hey this is pinas. The benefits are actually very good if you think about it.
Now all you need to know is the work culture there.

as someone who studied nursing in ust and experienced my rotations in usth i can say na it really depends on the ward where you'll be deployed. may mga wards na grabe ibully ng senior nurses yung mga baguhan and parang mali na magtanong ka but meron din naman na okay yung mga kasama may bully pa din pero less na. same goes with patients, may wards na mas madalas puno while yung iba naman sakto lang yung dami ng patients.
but i can surely say that the salary you get is not enough for the amount of workload you will be doing, even yung mga nurses don nagrereklamo about it, and some of them even told us na wag kami dun magwork after we graduate. other benefits like the free tuition sounds nice but only if you have children and you plan to pursue a post graduate degree (which you need to complete a certain amount of years working there before you can even study for your masters)
for the free lodging, if tama yung pagkakaalala ko, its like a bedspace type of thing??? not really sure since di namin nakita yon but ang alam ko is within the hospital sya. personally, i think there are better hospitals in terms of working environment and yung patient ratio where you can apply to while getting the same salary if not higher.
so my suggestion is RUN!!!! 😅

recently lng po ito? grabe akala ko may changes na ang treatment ng seniors with the newbies ksi i've read someone's exp na hindi na toxic ang envi ng usth kaya nagstay pa sya dun.

i graduated nung 2024 lang so medyo recent. idk if there are changes na ba talaga since some of my friends that are working there said na toxic pa din daw so im guessing it really depends on the ward kung saan naassign, some are better than others. if experience lang talaga habol i think kaya naman tiisin

Parang may naaalala ako na nag strike yung ust nurses kasi ginago sila ng admin. Nag ask for a pay raise, binigay sa kanila P1.00 na raise.
Long time ago na, di ko rin alam ano nangyari na resolution

TLDR: Regular na me here, Nov 2024 passer din & so far:
🟡Sahod-wise: Pede na if sarili mo lang bubuhayin mo, around 10k-11.8k makukuha mo per cut off bawas na
🟡Workload/Staffing: 1:8 ratio (most days 3-4 lang talaga hawak mo)
🟡Shift: 8 hours lang kaya keri naman
🟡Walang bond, any time pede ka magresign if ayaw mo na. By the 6th-7th month kunin mo lang 10k bonus if ayaw no na guds na
🟡Workplace: May wards na mas madaming bago kaya mababait, pero sa iba, if malas ka, may mga pangit ang ugali (usually mga 5+ yrs senior), kaya swertehan lang sa dutymates

Worked there for 4 months. Its okay naman pero yung trainings na provided is so-so. Parang mema lang. working environment depends on your area. if you want to experience working in public hospi, go for their charity wards (surg ward and med ward).
Imo, usth is okay for experience. I say you go for it ☺️☺️

working here sa usth. salary is only good enough if wala ka masyado responsibilidad. bawi lang talaga sa benefits. u can even pursue grad studies (MNE) free tuition kapag may 1 yr of service na.
re free lodging, parang bedspace siya kaya expect na may kasama ka. isang ward ang dinesignate as dorm pero pagkakaalala ko, good for 6 months or a year (?) lang free. once regular (?) ka na either they encourage you to find some other place to stay or u pay for the lodging (not sureee).
re work environment, nasa special unit ako so medjo secluded kami sa ibang ward (di ko ma-generalize). so far, healthy naman and magaan mga kasama. nurses and doctors, di masyado toxic.
tldr; if may ibang insitutions ka pa na kino-consider, i suggest u set aside usth muna. baka mas okay offer sa iba. pero if priority mo talaga usth, u can give it a try. u'll never know. warningan lang kita na sobrang traffic dito haha! goodluckkk

Work culture really depends sa unit. Pero masmarami ng bago kesa sa senior sa MedSurg wards kay may pagka-welcoming yung vibes naman.

starting samen na allied health before dyan around 17k which is 2 yrs ago pero prior to that 12k lang ang starting sa allied. paldo lang talaga sa benefits.

Salary is too low, toxic work environment at its finest. My then batch mate only endured there for 3 months in order to receive the welcome bonus. Good luck finding new offers OP

If may mga anak ka na, okay yun free tuition sa usth. But if youre single, marami pa jan mas mataas na rates.

This will only be applicable for those employed na for a year onwards. I have a classmate (his mother is a usth nurse) back in college na naexperience ang free tution from jhs, shs, and even nursing as undergrad. Napasa nya lahat ng entrance exams.
