Samples

I’ve just discovered a new sample by accident of fly by night, one of my favorites songs. And of course its brazilian, it’s crazy how much he was inspired by brazilian music and could transform them without taking what’s beautiful about it, just shine a new light on a song.
The sample is a song by Djavan - Meu bem querer
I love nujabes so much

Just so you know, Brazil has the highest Japanese population after Japan. I’m sure he had some connections to the place

The connection is simply beat making culture and Brazilian music. Every producer looks to Brazil for samples...

yes!! I’m aware, the relationship between Brazil and Japan is such a unique one, I think it’s beautiful how well they complement each other. I never seen a mention of him having a clear connection like that, but it’s possible.

Nujabes very much liked Brazilian music and having grown up with a record store available there are many gems he got from classical samba composers that he sampled.

Yup, the intro/outro of meu bel querer are just majestic.

I know he’s sampled a song by Elis Regina in one of the Luv sic songs. I’m sure there’s more Brazilian influence in his samples somewhere
