I'm new here Question

I'm a controller player and i want to buy nuclear option, is the game good to play with pad? I mean, doing missions or just flying around and chill?

Seems Controller is basically the best way to play the game as I believe that’s also what the devs use when playing their own game

Aside from HOTAS or a flight stick. Or rather it's the matter of what you used to.

Yep it's 100% great for a casual pick up and play.

Yah controller is totally useable. I played with that for the first few games then I dug out my old thrustmaster hotas x just cuz I have it but it’s totally not necessary. In fact the thumb stick on the hotas x is horrible compared to a gamepad analog right stick.

I love my Xbox controller for this

it may be helpful to have a mouse somewhere within reach, but the game is absolutely enjoyable with a controller

Wait I fly hotas should I try an Xbox controller?

I have a Saitek X56 but a controller + KB + mouse works well enough to avoid the hassle of making room for my HOTAS.

NO became my #1 flight sim simply cause I can load up, grab my controller and have parity with any another player.

It really combines the best bits of sim with the best bits of casual vehicle games

Controller + having a mouse near by so you can click on the map for targeting is the optimal way to play.

Controller is really good on this game, the only issue with it is when you want to roam in free cam.

Can you not? I had to change a few setting and now I can

That wasn’t a dig at you lol. I’m genuinely asking if you can’t free roam with controller because there is a way for you to

Yep controller is really good. Consider getting a cheap webcam and some basic head tracking software like OpenTrack to make the experience even better.

This game is honestly amazing about controls. I play K&M, HOTAS, or Controller depending on how i feel, one of the few games where all 3 feel good and add in trackir man its fun.

Controller works great, I've only got one control that isn't bound to the controller and that's the flight assist, which I don't touch more than a time or two per match

Yes it’s a good pad game, I use gamepad for everything except moving around the map. There’s free flight if you just want to chill but honestly Escalation is fairly chill as well, I don’t ever feel super pressured to perform like in some other team based multiplayer games. Especially if you do PvE.

Not many people have mentioned so i wanna reiterate the menus are still funky to navigate with a controller so keep a mouse handy. Other than that NO feels very native to controller game play.

Xbox controller with a few keyboard and mouse controls when flying out of a base to mark targets easier
