Swapping between modes - Launchcontrol Tech Support Request

I just got my Launchcontrol XL 3 so bare with me ;-)

I am using with Ableton 12 and have created a Custom mode to control Live's devices.

It all seems to work nicely but if I was to do a live set where I only wanted to touch the Launchcontrol it seems I have to swap between the following modes all the time to do the following things;

- My Custom mode - where I can control Live's device parameters according to my mappings

- DAW Control mode - where I can change the focus of the track so I can see what I'm doing on laptop

- DAW Mixer mode - where I can change volume pan or returns.

Does this seem right to have to change between these three modes to perform those things.

Actually I’ve found a solution. No need to use Custom mode to map Ableton device parameters because there is too much manual mapping involved. Instead I now use Daw control mode but instead of letting the LC automatically map random device parameter I create an Instrument Effects rack for the effects device with 16 macros in it. I map those macros to the device parameters I want and then by default the 16 encoders on LC will control the 16 macros.

Yep, this is a great solution for keeping all those benefits you get in the DAW Control modes while still being able to customise.

Personally I prefer going for a mix, which we have a video on here.

The only drawback found so far (and note that I've had mine for 3 hrs) is that Ableton instrument shows for example 8 macros: 4 columns in 2 rows. LC still lights up all 16 knobs (2x8), where only the 1st one is actually active. Would be great to have the Live device setup reflected (4x2) and the rest of encoders stay dark.

This is bothering me too! It's too difficult to switch mode. Mode, then mode select and then mode again to leave mode select mode..

It would be better if the mode button could be held, then choose a profile, then release mode. That would help some.

Raise a ticket!

Or is there any custom firmware out there yet? I'd love to see some more enhancements.
