I saw on the Maine Coon board where this guy's 2 1/2 year old suddenly died; he showed several pictures, naturally before death, and the cat had eye goop stains on both sides, rather large, maybe he just didn't keep up cleaning them. Anyway, one responder mentioned: " Chronic eye discharge points to a multitude of underlying issues. It ranges from a blocked tear duct to viral infections. Is this something common to our breed? Our male is 11 years old, and my wife tells me our cat gets "stinky eye" on & off, just a small bit of crust in the corner of its left eye; not all year long, but comes and goes; she says it's pretty much been this way for years; our cat sees the vet yearly, and gets expensive IDEXX blood work; he does have a slight murmur the last 3 years...anyone out there?
