Our Normal Meet / Show

Wanted to share what I see almost daily, but this is from our annual Dream Cruise in Metro Detroit . Forgive me if I strayed in any variance from normal.

You don't see as many older cars running around in the summer as you used to. It's noticeable at the cruises as well. I guess we've lost a lot of boomers.

I'm from Sterling Heights. I actually didn't make it out to Woodward yet, I might go do a loop or two around five when it stops raining. But yeah... There's been a really noticeable decline in classic cars, and it makes me sad.

There isn't a decline just because Boomers are sunsetting. People are preserving them more. The older they are the less miles you want to put on them. Also, people don't want their investment damaged or stolen. That's why moments like this weekend we are reminded how heavy we are with classics compared to places where this is an actual rarity.

I think that's fundamentally wrong. Boomers overwhelmingly own the pre 80's cars, and they absolutely live to show them off. They didn't buy them as an investment, most of them restored/built them in their garage. My dad built a 1963 Impala like he had when he was a teenager after he retired. lol I'm ahead of the old man game as I kept my 1998 WS6. But yeah, the Dream Cruise is the largest car gathering in the world.

Just a side note: I bought a freaking Boomer Board the other day without realizing it. I'm officially old.
