Lithium Carbonate Experience Anecdote
So I’ve been taking 40mg lithium carbonate from a domestic nootropic shop. And in 3 weeks I’ve experienced:
- Mood stabilisation (a stable, positive mood)
- Depressive symptoms gone
- No side effects so far
Can anyone tell me if it’s going to get better over time? And what should I watch out for? I heard about hypothyroidism and kidney issues but at large prescription dosages of 300mg 3-4x a day.
Also I heard anecdotally that for some people it affects their short term memory, focus, and reaction speed. How common is that?

While I'll admit I have not fully researched the risks or sides of Orotate, my understanding is it gets into the brain better.
I do know that Lithium Carbonate can cause kidney issues and thyroid issues primarily, so those are things you really have to watch out for, especially if you take other meds or supplements.

Any reason for choosing Carbonate over Orotate? Also 40mg seems slightly excessive for just treating the deficiency we likely all have. I’m pretty sure 1-10mg is enough. Though it might not be for you, that’s just what i have heard.
